it turns out that bayh picked the day before the filing deadline to make his little dart of a declaration, a particularly pointed shot at leader reid
gosh, you got reid going after obama by gutting the "jobs bill" down to a paltry 15B
(it's 157B in the house, for example)
(just how you gonna reconcile THAT?)
(and a "jobs bill," must be done pronto, no? by defintion)
(just like a "stimulus," a word democrats can never again utter)
so you got reid goin after the president from below, while a little deeper bayh's taking his parting shots at harry
by all accounts pelosi's supremely pissed, her delegation has gone a mile out on a skinny barack branch on health care, cap and trade, the stimu..., i mean, the recovery act...
and what's to show?
she's particularly pissed over the "jobs bill," everyone's saying
the upshot---the party in power is imploding over its comprehensively inept leadership
look at it, libs

Prof, how do you think Nancy is going to handle giving that speaker seat up in a few months?
I'm growing more cyncical each year, but I have to admit, I'm impressed with the American public's ability to call bull**** on all this so quickly. It's encouraging.
I couldn't believe we elected a man with less experience than a paper clip a year ago, but how quickly the tide has turned.
I believe there will be more announcements made that sound just about the same as this one as Democrats realize they are in trouble.
None of them will tell the truth about why they are bailing, but it all comes down to them having a retirement plan second to none that includes a Health plan and they can go out on top and say anything they want about why.
After they have left they can always get a job with the Obamedia a pundit and defend Obama from afar with no personal political risk.
Rats are not brilliant but they know to leave a sinking ship and Obama's poll numbers are still dropping.
And this is really bad news in an election year, very few are going to want to seen with Obama on the campaign trail and they will have a hell of a time in debates as well. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 24% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -17
Anyone notice the saying, "When the going gets tough the tough get going" doesn't apply to our congress critters? Of course that doesn't surprise me. If these critters really cared about their country and their convictions they'd stick it out, but apparently they won't.
I wonder how many will end up becoming lobbyists for the big bucks?
i agree, if the election were held today we'd take the house with votes to spare and come close in the senate
there's also not much the prez can do to turn things around, his entire agenda now is outta reach
that's his big pre-MA agenda, health care, cap and trade and reg reform
and his teeny tiny post-MA platform, as well---the jobs bill, bank tax, spending freeze, debt commission
what happened to his sotu, it's like it never happened?
i've never seen anyone so fickle
he's already FORGOTTEN the path he pointed out in his sotu
there's nothing the president can do to turn things around
and his tin eared obtuseness guarantees his continuing to utter the inanities we've daily become accustomed to, like savvy bankers must not be begrudged by agnostics...
and the like
that kinda almost obscurantist expression acts as a REAL downer on our economics, i sincerely believe
people just have no faith, no confidence, anymore, in leadership, in its competence
he creates this culture of UNCERTAINTY with all these clueless declarations
he's gonna freeze spending, the day before he raises the debt ceiling 2T
he's gonna rescue small biz, then repeal their bush tax cuts
i really agree with you about the growing awareness of our neighbors, never in my life have so many americans thought like you and me
but, yes, almost everyone in the nation is coming to think exactly like you and i always have, friend erod
and we can thank mr barack for this, HE'S DONE A MAGNIFICENT JOB OF EDUCATING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
never in my life have so many americans been so AWARE of what's going on
and so FIRED UP
i believe our POLITICS is gonna SAVE this nation
this political awakening you and i are talking about
i believe our ECONOMICS are a disaster, our SOCIAL situation almost as bad
but our POLITICS...
like i said, never in our lives have you and i been so well set up
thanks for the feedback, friend
and keep kicking his skinny ass

So, cliff, who's the Republican that'll be on the ballot this fall? Dan Coates¹?
“Real environmentalists live in cities, and they visit what's left of the wilderness as gently and respectfully as possible.” — Donna Moulton, letter to the editor, Tucson Weekly, published on August 23, 2001
If only Pelosi would leave. She the worst Speaker in moder history.
"He who does not think himself worth saving from poverty and ignorance by his own efforts, will hardly be thought worth the efforts of anybody else." -- Frederick Douglass, Self-Made Men (1872)
Is this democrats seeing a sinking ship and leaving while the leaving can be done with some respect.
Nothing is going to happen again until we alter the Constitution to eliminate the two parties gerrymandering the districts into intractable maps that guarantee each of the parties a certain amount of seats.
The entirety of the nation tends to be swayed by about 40 Congressional districts and occasional whims of the polity.
The whim this time around is going Republican. After that Congress gets nothing done (and they won't get anything done - if you believe they will, then I've got a bridge to sell you...); they'll probably swing back the other direction.
This country is broken. That's why Bayh is leaving.
I have no confidence that either party is going to ever do anything to fix it. And God knows a bunch of yokels in Idaho aren't going to fix things with their guns either.
