I don't understand what the designers of this track were thinking. If they understand the physics of the sport they had to see the opportunity for just that sort of crash. If the structure required those posts then they should have shielded them with plexiglass so a airborne pilot would slide along and/or bounce off of that and not make direct contact with the posts.

I watched a report they had and the reporter said that a lot of the blame was that he was too young and he did not have the experience that others had. Even if that is true it does not excuse the fact that the track is dangerous and many have complained about the turns.

The reporter also said that most are not getting as fast as this luger did.

Experience could have played a part. In the clip I posted the athletes said you really have to be on your game on that course. However, you're right that the track shouldn't have been that unsafe in the first place.

So....they couldn't find a Canadian to do it, so they had to outsource. Much like all the really hard medical procedures have to be sent down here.

Par for the course with Canada.

I don't really think you know what you're talking about.

No, but I do have a bit of resentment of the Canadians. Constantly lecturing us despite perhaps being the most dependent country on the U.S. in the world.

The IOC is lucky they are considered immune to lawsuits. But more than that, I was amazed to find out the track has been in use for over two years. You mean to say no one ever wrecked at that point of the course so that competitors, organizers and owners might get to thinking those posts are a catastrophe waiting to happen?!!?

I'll know if I came sliding through there at over 80mph, I'd start thinking about them! And padding would not be satisfactory at those speeds.

You seem very confused about the definition of dependency. What does Canada import from the US?
