Ahmadinejad Says Iran Is Now a 'Nuclear State'

Sure, and the war with Iraq where their army got WMDed had nothing to do with it. Keep the blinders on.

You mean the one nearly 30 years ago?

Or could it be that a certain western nation invaded two middle eastern countries in the last decade, has nearly 200,000 troops based in every country on its borders and is continually rattling sabres in her direction?
Just like it was doing in North Koreas direction. Until North Korea lit off a nuke. After that it's gone strangely silent....

Actually, the NK nukes have very little to do with why no one wants to invade that country.

I know why no one does, do you? (I'll give you a hint, it's a number, about 19,000,000)

Nobody wants to do anything to North Korea. That's the point.
Hell, Pakistan can shelter OBL, route terrorists to Afghanistan to kill your countrymen, and not a bloody peep about invasion.
I wonder why.....

In other news, Ahmadinejad says that Iran can now make biodegradeable penises for all lesbians.

I see. What exactly are you talking about?

A repressive regieme, Iranian leaders are evil yada yada yada. Seems to me I heard the same schtick before. I was wondering then, just as I wonder now, where all of that empathy suddenly came from.
Because nobody really gave a damn until the WMD crap turned out to be just that.
And some of these comments are startlingly familiar....

Good, now he can make progress triggering the arrival of the 12th imam.

This does not mean this regime will go out with a whimper. During these past six months, the Iranian regime has undergone a dramatic change of character. It has eliminated all pragmatic forces within its ranks. For religious support, they rely on a small but extremely radical group of ayatollahs such as Mesbah Yazde and Ahmad Janati. These are apocalyptic worshippers of the twelfth Imam, or Mahdi. Understanding this group is of the utmost importance for Western policymakers. The Mahdi is viewed as a Messiah-like figure whose return will bring peace on Earth. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad frequently refers to him in his speeches, including those held before the United Nations. While most twelver imam Shiites believe that the Mahdi will appear by his own accord, this radical group believes that his appearance can be triggered by creating the apocalyptic conditions necessary for his emergence. Iran's nuclear weapons program must be seen in this context. Ahmadinejad and the radical fringe group to which he belongs see themselves as the army of the Mahdi in his final jihad.

Another success of the tactic of appeasement! :doh

Bush was weak, Obama doubled down on the spinelessness with Iran. Good Show. :ssst:

We just need to be patient. Iran's leadership will fall on their own swords in due time. Arrogant leaders like that always do historically with no exception. The worst thing we can do is to attack them and unite those people against us.

If you really want my opinion I'm sick and tired of sticking our noses in the bum f**k Egypt countries, wasting our treasury and American lives. Let them implode on themselves.

Excellent, the drones can more easily seek the heat signatures of nuclear states.

Predator time.

When they translated ImOnAJihad's speech from Persian into English, he said 'nookler'.

The worst thing we can do is to attack them and unite those people against us.

Oh if only we could take those words from your keyboard and place them in front of the eyes of every politician in America.

God bless the Iranians and their nukes

What you are saying is not at all libertarian.

Why isn't it? Libertarians have free speech and are allowed to say what they want. Since my statement doesn't obligate others to do things against their wishes, it's very libertarian.

What you are saying is not at all libertarian.

i am trying to understand why refusing to object to another country acquiring - of its own volition - that which our country now possesses is somehow un-libertarian
iran's efforts to acquire nuclear capacity has not been detrimental to our nation's legitimate interests

Non-interventionism is one thing, wishing for your enemy to achieve equal capabilities is another.

Non-interventionism is one thing, wishing for your enemy to achieve equal capabilities is another.

In 50 years they might be close. That is if they actually had them today.

when's obama going to engage that famous personal diplomacy with the leaders of iran?

when are we going to see the remarkable, redefining results of his reach out?

why can't he stand up for the proud but oppressed people protesting on the streets of tehran?

because he doesn't want to undermine the regime he's so set on negotiating with, that's why

let's see, it went down like this

ahmedinejad---we're going to build the bomb

obama's response---we have a "two branch" approach, reach out on the one hand and, if that doesn't work, hammer with the other

meanwhile, the rotten regime itself is in some risk of crashing

comprehensively clueless exec, the most incompetent pol at the national level america has ever produced

I believe that Bush showed support for those in Iran seeking more liberty.

Non-interventionism is one thing, wishing for your enemy to achieve equal capabilities is another.

No one is wishing for equal capabilities. Having a nuke is one thing. Having an accurate delivery system is another. And having more nukes and a better delivery system than anyone else is... well that makes you the United States.
