Because Clinton was weak and agreed to the compromise. One of the dumbest things that Clinton ever did.

Actually I think the Spartans were the best fighting force in the world. They managed to hold off several million Persians with an allied force of under 10,000 for three days in the Battle of Thermopylae. And boy oh boy, did those Spartans ever have homosexuals in their military.

By contrast, Americans have historically used technology and large numbers to their advantage. Of course, I guess it depends on how you define "fighting force".

It was a compromise. Clinton wanted to do away with the policy banning gays altogether but Congress went to the Republicans, so it was the best he could do.

I'm glad that you concede that the problem did not originate with the right-winged establishment.

He already knew that, he just ignores it because it doesn't jive with his agenda.

You guys are still hitting up the right-wingers for being the cause of the discrimination policy. How do you explain the fact that there are gay right-winged conservatives?

You are absolutely right. This was no mistake. This guy was discharged under DADT, which means there would have been a flag under normal conditions when the re-call was enacted. Those who are discharged prior to ETS under alternative conditions are NOT normally recalled.

I think this is a statement that probably has its origins pretty high up the chain.

That's a 20th century reality only. The Revolutionary War, the Barbary Wars, the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Civil War, all saw American warriors heavily outnumbered.
It was the Austrasians, that hewed on bravely through the thick of the fight, it was they who found and cut down the Saracen King.

He didn't agree to the compromise. He introduced it.

They all support gay rights. Both Log Cabin Republicans and GOProud support the end of "Don't ask, Don't tell" and gay marriage. So while they may differ from liberal gays in just about every other issue, they still agree on those issues.
