Rep. John Murtha, Iraq war critic, dies at 77 (not a [r.i.p] thread) be warned

You don't seem to know the definition of invasion either.
How many US soldiers were killed during the invasion of Serbia?

What the hell does that have to do with whether or not the war was right or wrong? Seriously? And its very nice that you are so concerned about our troops. Maybe supporting an a-hole like Murtha and Kerry and all the rest that likened our soldiers to nazi storm troopers...and did so during a time when our soldiers were in harms way...maybe that emboldened the terrorists that remain there to think all they had to do was kill a few here and there and outlast us...

Do you know what the word "invasion" means?
Military attacks are not an invasion.
Airstrikes are not an invasion

Clinton declared war. Maybe you missed that.

So...we shouldnt have 'invaded' Iraq (good God...your situational ethics is astounding)...we should have bombed them to the stone age?

Maybe they were convinced another 17 UN resolutions STILL might not have accomplished the goals.

Congress has to declare war.
You might have missed it, but we did bomb Iraq into the stone age.
Did the UN give us permission to Invade Iraq? We are not the UN.

We're talking about Iraq here. Are you changing the subject on purpose or is it that you just can't keep up?

You guys brought up Clinton and Serbia.

Y
I REALLY dont mind if you think it was wrong to go to war. But you are a 'conditional' right and wrong kind of person...your version of right depends on if there is an elephant or an ass sitting in the white house.

Some wars are necessary and just. Iraq was not one of them. The costs were not worth it.
There are other countries with worse human rights records, where genocide is occurring yet you don't advocate invading them do you?

VM brought up Clinton and Serbia. Thats what we were discussing.

Had Clinton invaded Iraq in 98 and it cost a trillion dollars and 5000 American lives would you have supported it? I wouldn't have.

and yet YOU did by endorsing Clintons actions in Serbia...

Yes...you would have. Yes...you are that transparent. As long as its a democrat you will swallow anything. You have already proven it.

This thread is not about the iraq war. It is about room tempurature dirtbag murtha.

How many US soldiers were killed during the invasion of Serbia?

Not too many, but our planes flew so high and indiscriminately bombed cities, killing hundreds of civilians, yet no one complained because these atrocities happened on a Democrat's watch. Besides the Serbians weren't Muslims, the protected ones by the Democrats. They were just measly old Christians and expendable by the Clinton regime.

You do know those measly old Christians were committing genocide, don't you? The atrocities were being committed by the Bosnian Serbs. The fact is the US never invaded and only used air strikes to try to end the ethnic cleansing and I do believe it was a success.

uhm in reality both sides were committing atrocities.

Yeah, it was a smashing success. There were only a couple hundred thousand people murdered by the Serbs. When the killing stopped, we sat on a mountain and watched the Serbian army march home, fully intact. An operation to proud of, for sure.

Did the airstrikes stop the genocide? If so, then it was a success. Would it have been better to have done nothing?

But the Bosnian Serbs were committing genocide. There is a difference.

They were just getting payback for the 1.9 million Bosnian Serbs that were killed during the Holocaust by Croat Nazis and Muslims.

OK, the genocide was justified? Most of the victims were not even born when that happened.

So, in your world, "reason", and, "justified", mean the same thing? I'm only telling you why it happened. I wasn't justifying it.

I do believe, though, that had the tables been turned, the Muslims would have done the same thing, so I'm having a hard to summoning up much sympathy for them.

The genocide has stopped because we and other UN allies are occupying the area. We move out, and the genocide is renewed.

THAT certainly was part of Reagan's belief system.

Certainly they shared responsibility, but most people DID start practicing safe sex when AIDS came about. The educational effort on the part of the educational community was incredible. The federal government's response under Reagan was pathetic and thousands upon thousands died as a result of his inaction.

Really into that "Nanny State" thing aren't you.

Have you ever taken responsibility for your own actions? Don't you think others should instead of blaming the Government for “not taking action“?

I can hear it now…. They should have made me wear that seat belt, just look at me now. It’s all their fault.
