Personally, my gut feeling was that Bush had every intention on attacking Iraq before they ever swore him in. I can't prove it though. 9/11 was just an untimely deterrent to him, IMO. But it didn't take him long to get back on track. All he had to do is throw a carefully orchestrated bone to the propaganda mill and have them make American's believe Iraq and 9/11 were two of the same. Some fell for it. Some didn't. Hindsite being 20/20 I can't help but want to go "neener-neener" sometimes, but it's pointless.

But as my friend Conservative says, we are in the here and now. No use in digging up old bones.

But Murtha, love him or hate him, we can all agree, another war-dog bites the dust. I hope many more join him.

Riiiiiiiiiight...the GOVERNMENT fueled the AIDS epidemic...NOT wreckless and irresponsible sexual activity...gotcha...

What...he should have raced to find that cure sooner? He should have shut down the bathhouses?

Murtha was what Kerry and most liberal politicians are...political scumbags who only 'care' about the military when it serves their own agenda and need.

Murtha left Washington and Jefferson College in 1952 to join the Marine Corps and was awarded the American Spirit Honor Medal for displaying outstanding leadership qualities during training. Murtha became a drill instructor at Parris Island and was selected for Officer Candidate School at Quantico, Virginia. Murtha was then assigned to the Second Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Murtha remained in the Marine Forces Reserve, and ran a small business, Johnstown Minute Car Wash (which still operates in the West End section of Johnstown.) He also attended the University of Pittsburgh on the G.I. Bill, and received a degree in economics. Murtha later took graduate courses from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Murtha married his wife Joyce on June 10, 1955. They have three children and live in Johnstown.

Murtha left the Marines in 1955. He remained in the Reserves after his discharge from active duty until he volunteered for service in the Vietnam War, serving from 1966 to 1967, serving as a battalion staff officer (S-2 Intelligence Section), receiving the Bronze Star with Valor device, two Purple Hearts and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He retired from the Marine Corps Reserve as a Colonel in 1990, receiving the Navy Distinguished Service Medal.

He served honorably, but I do believe he was suffering from a mental disorder later on in his life. Just like many politicians

You know what they say. One "aw-****" wipes out 10 "atta-boy's."

I find it somewhat a double standard that Murtha can stick his foot in his mouth, going on the intel he was given and he get's branded as a traitor by the same people who defend the last president's ****-up's by saying, "he was just going on the information that was presented to him."

I also find it reprehensible that Murtha would politicize the trials and tribulations facing our soldiers at war, putting himself in the seat of judgement having been in a war front himself, all for the sake of his politics.

    Just sayin'.

All that being said, It saddens me to see the hate some people have in their hearts for our most decorated heroes. But I've seen it before. Wasn't that long ago some people called them baby-killers. History just repeats itself.

    Bad form. Tsk, tsk.

But it was quite appearant to me that Murtha was losing his marbles in his latter years. I'm sure war takes it's toll on the conscience and mental well-being. Maybe a mandatory retirement age along with term limits is the answer.

Is this the event that caused all the commotion?

WASHINGTON - A Pentagon probe into the death of Iraqi civilians last November in the Iraqi city of Haditha will show that U.S. Marines "killed innocent civilians in cold blood," a U.S. lawmaker said Wednesday.

From the beginning, Iraqis in the town of Haditha said U.S. Marines deliberately killed 15 unarmed Iraqi civilians, including seven women and three children.

One young Iraqi girl said the Marines killed six members of her family, including her parents. “The Americans came into the room where my father was praying,” she said, “and shot him.”

On Wednesday, Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., said the accounts are true.

Military officials told NBC News that the Marine Corps' own evidence appears to show Murtha is right.

A videotape taken by an Iraqi showed the aftermath of the alleged attack: a blood-smeared bedroom floor and bits of what appear to be human flesh and bullet holes on the walls.
