[R.I.P.] Jack Murtha

Just goes to show that even people who may not agree with policies, that when a death occurs some people can put that aside for a moment and show some respect.

True that.

And some people can't. I think it might have a lot to do with good or bad parenting.

If you don't want people pooping up the [r.i.p] thread, do you think attacking those you disagree with here is a right thing to do?

I've provided an outlet for people to express thier true feeling on Murtha, I have shown this thread respect. Insulting me and others backhandedly in this thread, is not really showing equal respect, is it?

as for bad or good parenting? I think it has to do more with Murtha willing to send innocent marines to jail or the electric chair for his politics. But thanks for that.

Aside from Murtha's comments about the marine's being "over -stressed and killing innocent civillians in cold blood," which, technically, was true (albeit not-intentional) it is good that he no longer serves the government.

He was well known to be war-hawkish and directed a LOT of his time and energy keeping the defense industry fat.

Whereas I do believe in a strong and invincible defense, I also know that peacetime is no friend to those in that particular industry. War might be good for their business but it's hell on families and children and should be avoided if at all possible. I have a feeling that Murtha and his cohorts did not share this sentiment with me. Maybe towards the end he did. But up until then, to me, he was just another war-mongering suit. He might as well have been a republican as far as I can tell.

He has a new commanding officer now.

Rest in piece Colonial, a salute from one Marine to another. You served your country honorably forty years ago in Nam ,you served the people of Pennsylvania honorably since then.

I know, I know, I am wandering from the topic, but this needs to be said.

Wandering off topic just got me this from another member:

If you want to troll about climate, then start a thread about climate. This is a thread about the weather, which is not the same thing. Please leave this thread, and take your pot-stirring attitude elsewhere.

Wondering off topic to say something nice about someone is completely different from trolling to stir up ****!

The former represents classy behavior, the latter represents crass behavior!

I appreciate your input, but please don't feed the troll. Thanx.

We've all been both crass and class, the piling on unnecessary, I'll allow the fun and childish name calling. However, I draw the line right before being asked to leave any thread......I'll make the choice on what thread I enter or leave minus a Mod's edit pen as I trust you all will. Had I asked any of you three to leave a thread for any reason, you'd be laughing at me.

I'm in here for fun and sometimes, crass gets it done. So this evening, I'm laughing at you.

Big boy pants, Gentlemen.;)

In the end he was less than always faithful to the Corps

His military service is the only thing he should be remembered for.

How so? There is still questions about the Marines actions. To ignore that would be doing the Corps injustice. A good marine would raise flags about wrong doings.

Just wanted to peek in and say RIP to Congressman Murtha, and condolences to his family. I didn't agree with a damned thing the man was about, but he is now deceased and deserves the dignity of a proper salute for his service to the nation.

RIP John Murtha.
