'Snowmageddon' blankets Mid-Atlantic in heavy snow

As the song goes, "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow".

Hold on here, D!

I apologize and stand corrected.

Here you are earlier...posting on weath....er.....climate. Certainly your timely post here on the song let it snow addresses climate..and not weather.

What say we both take the role of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer's good friend Yukon Cornelius. You eat what you eat, I'll eat what I eat.

Obama needs to bail out the snow plows.

25 percent of D.C. plows out of commission - wtop.com

As the region braces for another major storm, one local government is having trouble keeping their plows on the roads, WTOP has learned.

As many as 60 of the District's snow plows are not working -- bad news for thousands of residents still waiting for their streets to be cleared.

According to an internal email obtained by WTOP, 25 percent of the District's snow plow fleet is down and they're having trouble getting replacement parts.

D.C. is also now rationing their salt supply.

Watching the news right now. Another 10-20 inches of snow coming to the Eastern US. February 2010 is going to be remembered for a very long time.

The entire thread is about a snowstorm of good size in the Mid-atlantic region of the US only. That's a discussion on weather, climate is a broader issue. I'll not leave, rather, continue the dialogue.

And it's hillarious that weeks after Copenhagen and weeks after news comes to the front that this man made global warming message isn't true, Mother Nature seemingly reminds us of that exact fact by blanketing the White House with 3 feet of snow, blizzard like conditions, government shut down, and Obama and the rest of the climaters with egg on their faces.

I think this most relevant and my attitude needs no change.

Next.

You make an ignorant inference that a localized weather phenomenon means global warming isn't real and documented and you want to be taken seriously? I could make the same stupid argument that the entire globe is warming just because Canada is experiencing a mild winter, but it wouldn't make it necessarily true.

NASA: 2009 tied for 2nd-warmest year, 00s hottest decade too

Note: I know the thread is about localized weather but i can't leave ignorant statements like this unchallenged.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo schoooooooooool!

You mean this NASA that is no longer credible?

Climate Change Fraud - Judicial Watch Uncovers NASA Documents Related to Global Warming Controversy

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained internal documents from NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) related to a controversy that erupted in 2007 when Canadian blogger Stephen McIntyre exposed an error in NASA's handling of raw temperature data from 2000-2006 that exaggerated the reported rise in temperature readings in the United States. According to multiple press reports, when NASA corrected the error, the new data apparently caused a reshuffling of NASA's rankings for the hottest years on record in the United States, with 1934 replacing 1998 at the top of the list.

Take your trolling somewhere else, you ****ing idiot. This thread is about a snowstorm.

Moderator's Warning:
The personal attacks need to end. Likewise, this thread is about the snow and its impact not global warming. There's a forum for that discussion, this thread isn't it

While this is going on in the U.S. mid-Atlantic, we are experiencing temps in the upper 80s (MUCH warmer than normal -- about 15-20 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year)

Interesting - when you go to the Judicial Watch website it only talks of error not fraud or conspiracy.........................

And this error was a minor blip - it made virtually NO difference

1934 is the hottest year on record in the USA which only comprises 2% of the globe. According to NASA temperature records, the hottest year on record globally is 2005.

<snip>

What is often overlooked is the temperature adjustments only applied to temperatures in 48 U.S. states. As the USA comprises only 2% of the globe, this has had infinitesimal effect on global trends.

1934 is the hottest year on record

And it was NOT a fraud or conspiracy on the part of NASA

It is fraud when NASA refused to release data that brought a lawsuit against them.

Boone got 8 inches, but there's ice every where.

Friday I almost didn't make it to the coffee shop (~ 1 mile walk). I don't know what I would have done without my coffee-- I suppose my world would explode.

For the record. I ****ing love Boone!

To the guys who are still trying to turn this thread into one about global warming. That is not the topic. The weather is, and I would really appreciate you, and I am talking about those on both sides of the global warming issue, to please not derail this thread. It's about weather. It's not about climate change, the color of Mars, or about which baboons have red asses. It's just a thread about the weather. If you can keep the discussion to that, I would really appreciate it. If you can't, then I have a great suggestion for you. Hell is thought to have rampant global warming, so you might want to go down there and check it out.

thanks Dan, Let's see if I can bring it back....I just moved to SC last year, until then I lived just north of Baltimore, and I grew up in Lansing MI....So I know what huge snow is, and I know what that region usually gets.

My Brother In Law said that they had 32" last week, and were now forcasting a foot or more with this new one. Salt is running out, and power to 250,000 BGE customers remains out....This is terrible! I pray for them.

Heh, I am in Ionia MI. Right next door to where you grew up. We got about 8 inches yesterday, not bad but made alot worse due to the wind. I hate winter.

Love the fair, and there used to be a little bar off on the right as you came into town headed for the fair, that made the best burgers I have ever had!

My Dad grew up in Mt. Pleasant....I had family around there at one time.

I hate winter also, guess that is one major reason I keep tracking south....

Anyway, small world.

I can't find an ice scraper anywhere. :(

For those hoping for change in DC areas, the climate provided it! Betcha all you Obama voters still cannot believe..if you live in DC metro areas....that the biggest change to your life more than a year after the Messiah's inaug would be the climate....getting even colder and dumping 3 feet of snow on your global warming theories.

Think we need to send the President back to Copenhagen?:doh

Huh? So global warming means that temperatures are warmer? Please enlighten me. *rolls eyes*

This snow sucks. I am stunned that my 2-year-old isn't stir crazy today. The winds are so bad that I can't take him outside.

I will never understand why this area has been unable to deal with snow. I have lived here since 1995 and there has been no improvement.

You mean warming doesn't mean warming?

Want to share a blanket?

School's out all week, meaning 10 snow days so far this year.

This is already the snowiest winter ever recorded for D.C., with 56 inches of snow having fallen (and probably more than that where I live, since we get it worse than they do).
