One measly foot of snow is a big deal here, and we got way more than that.
I realize it's big to you guys, but it's not the biggest snow storm in recorded history. And damn it, it should have been OUR storm!! I can see lawn out front.

I meant that it is for this location.

Ya, they upgraded it to 12 inches for DC. 2 inches during the day tomorrow, then 10 more tomorrow night. Ughh.
    Are you coming to bed?
    I can't. This is important.

The biggest recorded snowfall in DC was 28 inches, set back in 1922. We got 25 inches this weekend. And I heard that it actually did set a new record at Dulles Airport.

Dav hadn't indicated location until after I commented.

That would make this the biggest storm in recorded history.
Yep, doesn't shock me at all. I'm a couple exits up rt 28 from Dulles Airport, in Sterling, and we got 30" measured in my back yard.

Granted, its melted down to about 24" now. However with the snow coming who knows what its going to get to. People freaked out over 20" in December, and 30" now, I can't wait to see if we actually get closer to the 20" instead of the 10" in the next few days what people are going to do.

It started out with just a "winter storm watch" set for 2 PM Tues through 7:00 PM Wed for 5 or more inches.

It quickly got bumped up to "Winter Storm Warning" set from 12 PM Tues to 7:00 PM Wed and 10-20".

The government has been off for 3 days so far this year (one day in December, and now Monday and Tuesday for now). If we get at least a foot down tomorrow I don't see any way how we're not going to have Wednesday off. And with it going till late evening Wednesday and adding to this weekends, I'd say there's a slight chance for Thursday off.

Which is frankly crazy, but its just that they're not prepped for this up here. Once in a winter was bad enough. Twice, and then having a little extra on top of the second one, is just way too much.

The biggest issue is how many people use the Metro's and Metro Buses to get around, especially for government workers, and with so much snow (and it was SO much that the bottom layers have turned to ice now) the above ground metro's can't really run very well and the Buses are having trouble.

Its been crazy. Fun though. Love watching it.

I think if we get a foot of snow tomorrow, the whole area will almost definitely be shut down on Thursday, and probably Friday as well. Everything is already closed for tomorrow even though we haven't had any snow since Saturday.
