You think ignorant people should be allowed to vote?

Do you give your three year old child the steering wheel when driving 60mph down the freeway?
Anyone who is a citizen, and who has not had their rights taken away legally, should be allowed to vote. It is the most basic expression of democracy. Voting rights should never be taken away without due process.

Someone said it well; Tancredo is a lose cannon.

If the Teaparty is all for standing up again the over spending and over taxation by our government -- more power to them. Unfortunately the movement is being hijacked by those on the fringe and the partisan hacks that just hate Obama.

I love how at the "Teaparty Convention the same people that call for an end to extravagant spending by the government are paying $500 a head to attend and another $350 to listen to Caribou Barbie. Anyone else see a contradiction here? Oh and don't forget the Teaparty Cruises.
Dude, let's lay off the Caibou Barbie comment. It's annoying when we get the 187,270 "Messiah" jab, and we should try to be better people here.

Not historically illiterate, not politically illiterate, but illiterate all by itself.

    There is no confusion.
Honestly, I don't remember what I put in that post, so you can say what you want at this point and I cannot confirm or deny it. She can probably read, but I do question her ability to retain information after reading it (like the name of a newspaper)

You don't have to have a high school diploma, or even be literate, in order to face life's challenges, and to have an opinion on which party represents your values more. That is qualification enough to vote.

Literacy tests would serve no purpose than to politically silence many of the poor, and that is why I am against ALL literacy tests, even those that are not instituted because of racism.
Di'O in your country do you have to pass a literacy test to fight and die defending its values?

I don't believe in civics testing to vote, but I do believe in them in high school. Our youth are sadly undereducated in civics and need to understand the founding documents and history of our govt.

Even then though you are proven wrong because there are already people that DO pay taxes that do not vote responsibly. Again, your suggestion does nothing to fight irresponsible voters, it just makes it so your charging for everyone (both responsible and irresponsible) to vote.

One racist I know is an old ex navy veteran. When he got out of the navy he started building instant slum apartments and renting them out to black people who payed their rent through section 8.

He hates black people and calls them the n word in private all the time.

He has signed pictures of all the republican presidents since nixon. He is alway complaining that n's are lazy, stupid and what have you and complaining that the government should get rid of welfare.

He made his fortune off of the people on government welfare.

When obama was elected he and his racist wife would sit in their office complaining about the obama conspirisy, birther stuff, commie stuff like that.

I got tired of it and one day I went to his office wearing my obama for president hat and I have not talked to him since.

Tancredo stands against not only illegal immigration, but legal immigration too. He's Congress's leading racist and it's a shame to have kooks like him in my party.

Lately, however, racists have been emboldened and, as illustrated here, the code words are out, and the real meanings and intents are back.

I for one, do not believe that Obama's plans for America are the right ones, and I will always fight against them. But let's call a spade a spade, and tell it like it is. Some of the Obama bashers (not all of them, but some of them, and I want to make that crystal clear), are dedicated racists, and a few (Such as O'Keefe) have long-time connections to white supremacist groups. As the uncle of 3 wonderful kids who are the product of a mixed marriage (and a wonderful one, too), I will fight against these vermin, just as hard, if not harder than I will fight against Obama's policies. If I have my way, these kooks will not gain so much as a foothold inside the Republican party.

I agree with you. This will backfire for them. This movement will become more and more fringe, no matter if it has some merits.

Thanx. This is really a sore spot with me. This is the kind of stuff that helped to ruin Ron Paul's chances, despite Paul distancing himself from them, and telling them to take a hike. If the real teabaggers don't do something about this cancer, it will eat them down to the bone.
