Next in Line for a Bailout: Social Security

Unlike you my hypocritic friend I have never taken a dime from government and I don't intend to. I believe we should take care of ourselves. Personal responsibility. You should try it.
You are a leech on society and your benefits should be slashed so our grandchildren can have a brighter future. Entitlements must be cut to the bone.
Yours included.

Since 1984, Social Security has raked in more in payroll taxes than it has paid in benefits, accumulating a $2.5 trillion trust fund. But because the government uses the trust fund to pay for other programs, tax increases, spending cuts or new borrowing will be required to make up the difference between taxes collected and benefits owed.

Yeah, right..........:rofl

Unlike you, I have prepared for my retirement so I do not need SS. I don't plan on signing up for it until I am in my 70s.

Hate to break it to you, but you've already signed up for and have been paying into it on every legit paycheck you've ever gotten.

I will not sign up for benefits until I am 70. I have paid plenty of taxes. At least I might get something back with the SS taxes.

Might as well sign up for bennies as soon as you're eligible, since you've been paying into the system your whole life.

Me: if they bailout SS, does that mean I can stop paying into the BS?

Why? If I don't need it? If one waits until 70 the payment is higher.

The payments are based on how much you paid into the system.

Your payment goes up 8% every year after your full retirement age(mine is 65.5) up until you are 70 and is 20% less if you sign up at 62.

Because the government steal alot of SS by people dying in there 60's or earlier.

My son is on SSI and medicaid.

Yeah but he does not to blame his daddy

SLick Willie..........

Slick Willie was operating under a surplus when he was done. There was no need to dip into the SS fund. The deficits of the last 9 years depleted the SS fund.

The surplus was because he used SS. 50+ years of stealing SS depleted it. Democrats had the majority for 40 years and spent plenty of SS

That's right. If you don't include the SS funds, he never had a surplus.

In order for SS to survive, benefits must be cut. I wonder if anyone has the courage to do that?

We could increase FICA.

You don't even know me and have no clue what my income is...........Lets just say I started drawing SS at age 70.......You may not draw it at 70...They might raise the age on you.......

I heard the GOP guys on TV the other day talking about people under the age of 55 might have to accept a restructuring of SS. (read: cuts.)

The TV pundit TRIED to get him to say "cuts" but the politician wouldn't go there. He skated around it.

I don't trust the democrats with much. But I trust them a helluva lot more than I do the republicans when it comes to entitlements like SS. The DNC claim to fame is government cheese. The GOP's claim to fame is "**** you. I got mine!"

Its political suicide to cut SS benefits and the democrats and the republicans know that.........Your real only option is to raise the age limit and stop early payment at 62........

Actualy the last two years of the Clinton admin, they did not use the SS surplus ( the government had a surplus over and above that of the SS)

Like **** we can! I'm a business operator and the last thing I want to do is pay more when matching funds paid on my employees.

As a business owner I don't get a single benefit from paying that money and sure as hell can't write it off my taxes.
