So I wonder which one it is? Was McCain too far right or not far enough?
Depends on which McCain you are talking about. During the primaries he pandered to the religious right....then tried to play to the center during the election.
McCain is the perfect example of a lifetime politician.

The primary system is fubar. That's why.
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

Well I don't think I can argue with that.

My only point is that I constantly hear GOP supporters complaining about RINOs and the party not being conservative enough. Yet when they had a chance to elect a conservative to run for President they didn't.

    I don't get it.

Personally, I'm thrilled with his words. These are excellent circumstances upon which to make a shift.

I wonder if McCain's growing battle for his Congressional seat has anything to do with it?
Thats McRino trying to pretend he is a conservative for votes. McRino knows that libs are losing so he is desperate to try to keep his seat. Next thing you know he will say he is against illegal immigration, supports water boarding,Doesn't believe in the man made global warming fairy tale, and many other things that contradict what he has said, attempted to do or have done in the past. Hopefully suckers do not fall for it and vote his ass out. Romney did the same thing when he ran in the presidential primaries, basically he pretend that he was no longer a liberal so he can get votes.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"
