'Iran will deliver telling blow to global powers on Feb. 11'

A harsh blow to global arrogance doesn't necessarily sound like a military threat. I'm interested to see how this pans out.

How about a 1 meg nuke 100,000 ft above Tehran? :2wave:

The EMP wave would extend beyond Iran and render that part of the world 19th Century-esque. No cars or radios, telephones nor TV. We have allies/friends that would suffer, too.

Yep, Iran knows any serious assault on US or Israeli interests is suicide.

Remember that Iran's 12ers are believed to WANT TO START such chaos to bring forth the Mahdi.

Actually not. A 1 meg fusion device exploded at 100,000 ft. would disrupt power, kill the computers in new cars as well as all the computers, TV's, radio, etc. for a radius of less than 100 KM.

Wouldn't affect our friends one little bit.

Thanks for looking up the page.

The 100km cited in the USA map refers to the HOB Height of Blast.

Various religions say lots of things, you can pretty much cherry pick things out of almost all religions that say their followers are supposed to go out and kill everybody! Just because the holy documents of a religion or sect say something, it doesn't mean that people follow it or take it seriously in day to day life!

It also assumes a small fission device as they are better at producing EMP. That page wasn't ment to be a give all, know all source.... it was just to get you started. I researched all this stuff back in the cold war days, it still holds true today.

But Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs speak of his return regularly. They do take it seriously in day to day life.

They talk about lots of things, talk does not equal action. If the government was going to do something about this belief, they would have done it by now, back when the Iranian government was stronger.

Not necessarily. They might be waiting for other pieces of the global chess game to move into place so that the cataclysm will be experienced worldwide and not just in the ME.

And besides, they still have yet to attain nuclear weaponry and remember, one of their goals is the destruction of Iran.

“We do not worship Iran, we worship Allah. For patriotism is another name for paganism. I say let this land [Iran] burn. I say let this land go up in smoke, provided Islam emerges triumphant in the rest of the world.”

Ayatollah Khomeini

Right, they're waiting until they are even further weakened internally by continued protests. Protesters in Iran have started fighting back against the police and basij! That is a huge affront to Iranian government authority and legitimacy. Like I said, if they were gonna pull some suicidal move, the best time would have been when they were in a stronger position and had the people mobilized in their favour, say just after the Iran-Iraq War or something like that.

You have not made a convincing argument at all, all you've got is rank speculation, and not even believable speculation at that. Get back to me when the regime commits suicide for blatantly religious reasons.

In international relations talk is cheap. Rhetoric dominates. Most sensible people (which excludes bhkad because he is consumed by his own agenda) understand that.

You are thinking like a Westerner. A non-Islamic one at that. Try to think as they do. And I have no further wish to educate you in this matter or be schooled by you. The truth will bear me out or not and there will be little consolation or getting back to you once that happens.

Or not.

Until or unless you fully appreciate the role religion plays in their minds and governance you will fail to appreciate Iran's moves. What would prompt them to continue on their nuclear path when the end result is only death?

Yes, and you understand Islam and Muslims soo much better? Yeesh, you sir are full of it. You have not backed up what you say one whit.

Agreed, talk is especially cheap when it comes from chest thumping dictatorships like Iran.

To what end? I have told you. You have told me. That's the end of it. Unless you enjoy the rasslin around and jockeying to see who can pin the other. That is what debate is, yes? Well, I don't debate much. I state my truths and walk away after hearing and being heard.

Seeing as this is a debate forum, hopefully you will eventually improve your debating skills.

Well considering you called Iran a dictatorship and I have linked some fantastic information stating otherwise...

and as for what bhkad has been saying...

Whatever I'm dropping it, trying to understand "the enemy" is too liberal apparently.:doh

Ahmedinejad will probably spew some anti Israel/American rhetoric and claim that the two nations are the great and little satans trying to prevent the coming apocalypse :screwy Or he'll proclaim that they have made a nuclear weapons... For peaceful purposes of course :rofl

Even if the Iranian government has the support of a majority of Iranians, that doesn't make them any less dictatorial.

Yeah, apparently.
