Verdict reached in Kan. abortion slaying trial

Anyone who considers themselves anti-abortion because they view the unborn no different than someone outside the womb should view Scott Roeder as a man who killed a evil sick sadistic child killer.

Which still makes him guilty of murder. We have these things in this country called laws. They are important.

And our laws make no distinction as to who you kill. If you murder someone evil, you have still committed a murder.

Most ethics would hold the same. Apparently some Christians think that the "Thou Shalt Not Kill" commandment has an asterisk.

It took the jury 37 minutes Friday to reach the verdict ...
Damn, that was fast. Not even enough time to get the state to buy the jury a pizza.

In case anyone is curious, he will most likely end up here.

Multiple asterisks, to the point where they sometimes don't consider it at all.

Same thing, except one penalty is three amorphous points on an internet chat board, while the other is 50 years in pound me in the ass prison. Oh, and in one, you call another pseydonymous guy a "douche" and in the other, you shoot a guy in the ****ing face.

:rofl

Thanks I needed that!

Guess you're right. It's not really murder if you're doing it for your God, I suppose. (Where have I heard that before?)

How true this is.

Radical Muslims killing people for their religious beliefs? TERRORIST!!!!

Radical Christian killing someone for his religious beliefs? Hero.

Roeder is a murderer. Let me be clear about that. He deserves to die in prison.

But if Roeder truly believed Doctor Tiller was murdering babies, then Roeder did exactly what he should have done. He stopped him.

For all of you other pro-lifers who believe abortion is murder, why aren't you out there killing abortion doctors? If you pro-lifers really believe babies are being murdered you should be doing everything in your power to stop abortion doctors. Including killing them.

Anything less is cowardice.

Hey folks, I want to make one point quickly. While Roeder might have had a religious motivation, he is not representative of most christians, not even the most fundamental of them. Let's please not turn this into an excuse to bash christians or their beliefs.

Can anyone take this type of posting as genuine, or honest in debate? I sure don't.

Why not? Do you believe abortion doctors commit the act of murder when they perform an abortion?

If you answer yes to that question, then why aren't you trying to use any means necessary to stop abortion doctors?

If I believed that someone in my town was going around killing babies, while the police sat on their hands and politicians looked the other way, I would find that "baby killer" and use as much force as needed to stop them.

So which is it? Do you believe abortion doctors commit murder? Or do the pro-lifers just like calling abortion doctors "baby killers" because it makes'em sound so evil?

It's obvious that you think you've proved some point, but for said point to make any sense, you'd have to show where the bible says "if a neighbor commits an act of murder, you should take it upon yourself to shoot him in the face without trial."

My only point is to show that abortion doctors are not murderers. Neither are women who have abortions. Therefore calling abortion doctors "baby killers" or "murderers" is nothing more than hyperbole and a hyper-partisan attack.

And I don't need to prove anything in the bible. We are a nation of laws. The bible is not relevant to my point. Under the laws of the US you are allowed to defend your life via the use of deadly force. You can always use deadly force to defend yourself or the life of another human being. For example:

Scott Roeder truly believed Doctor Tiller was murdering babies. So Roeder did what he thought was right; he murdered Doctor Tiller to stop the murder of babies.

Except nothing about your post showed any of that.

Let's pretend that I think abortionists are committing murder. Nothing in the bible gives me a right to kill them myself. So when you said:

You were wrong.

True enough, NYC.

The coercive power of the state is behind abortion. The only way to stop such a thing would be to abolish the state. It's not as simple as just going around and killing abortion doctors.

By the way, I'm pro-choice, just in case anyone was thinking of labeling me...

No I'm not. If a person believes abortion is murder, and I have heard many people on the pro-life side make that very claim, then those people should be doing everything in their power to stop those murders.

I don't know how else to explain it.

The laws of the US allow a person to commit justifiable homicide. Self defense falls under those laws.

If there were a person on my street going around killing babies and the police or government refused to do anything to stop him, then I would.

There are actual murders being committed at this very moment. Murders that either one of us could probably stop, if we were so inclined. Does that make you a hypocrite because you're sitting at your computer instead of stopping crime?

No not at all. Because I don't know where those murderers are. I suppose I could randomly ride around and hope I stumble upon one. The odds of that seem pretty slim though don't you think?

Abortion doctors however have clinics and offices which are accessible to the public. You can find them online and in the phone book. Or you can just ask at your local hospital or clinic. You can even walk right through the front door of the office of a so called "murderer".

Seems pretty easy to me.

Tiller was a murderer as was the man who killed him. I am very pro-life and I support the ruling that this man was found guilty with murder. Killing a murderer isn't for us to do (although self defense is another thing).

Why is it wrong to kill a murderer? Especially one that has killed hundreds if not thousands of babies and will continue to do so. How is that not defending the life of a child?

Biblically speaking it is wrong to kill a murderer because it is not our jurisdiction to do so. In the Bible it says justice and vengeance belong to God, not to us. If someone commits a murder it isn't for anyone to go up and assume that they have the right to bring justice upon him through ending his life. The best thing to do would be to get the state to recognize what this man is doing is murder and allowing the law to punish him accordingly.

Well the laws of the US allow a person to use deadly force to defend their life or the life of another. The bible, while a powerful religious text, does not decide whether or not homicide is justifiable in the US. Only our laws do that.

The Bible permits self defense and war as an act of defense. It teaches to be merciful, but if someone is trying to murder you it is acceptable to use deadly force. The best way to defend the unborn would be to talk the mothers who are seeking to murder their child and persuade them not to. However, we can't make choices for people.

This guy deserves capital punishment. What he did was abhorrent even if he did murder a evil SOB who performed late term abortions.

Well I agree with you there. Talking people out of abortions via counseling or whatever we want to call it is a wonderful idea.

Unfortunately some people still call abortion doctors "baby killers" and "murderers". If those people really believe that claim then it seems to me they should be doing a lot more to stop abortions than just counseling or standing on a street corner holding up a placard.
