Justice task force recommends about 50 Guantanamo detainees be held indefinitely

You've actually got that one backwards there. If they were a regularly organized army under the flag of a recognized state, they wouldn't be enemy combatants.

I'm looking forward to hearing the explanations for why they're different:

Holding detainees indefinitely with no trial in Cuba = Inhuman
Holding detainees indefinitely with no trial in rural Illinois = Totally cool

Must be something to do with air conditioning. Maybe Gitmo was too humid for them.

It's easier to picket/protest a prison in Illinois.

Not really.

Thomson isn't close to any large cities. The area is rural and agricultural. It is also economically depressed. The State of Illinois figures around 3000 job openings for the locals, either at the TCC itself or with the facility supply/support chain.

This is heartland America with heartland values. These people know each other and recognize who belongs in the area and who doesn't. I don't envision them supporting anyone who comes to picket/protest and disrupt their opportunity for prosperity.

The facility and grounds is a restricted area. Federal marshal's, TCC correction officers, and local and state police all work together to maintain the security cordon.

Proving the genius of Gitmo that uses the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and Atlantic Ocean to maintain the security cordon.
