Palin and McCain will campaign again

Listen my left wing friend.......I responded to another post......I would be interested in knowing what other kinds of Conservatives there are though....Please don't tell me a moderate or a liberal conservative..........I call them RINOS......Thanks........

Well for one, there is an ACTUAL conservative...you know, one that is both Social AND Fiscal. Not someone who just cares about one and doesn't give a flip about the other.

Then there is you, who is militarily conservative, socially conservative, and fiscally a BIG GOVERNMENT, BIG SPENDING liberal and governmentally a BIG GOVERNMENT EXPANSION, BIG GOVERNMENT POWER liberal.

So....I guess based on your definition....you're a RINO my left wing friend.

In regards to Palin, while she was useful for a national election and would've been a much bigger impact for him if he didn't use horrible political strategy, I'm unsure how useful she'd be in his state.

I think Palin is going to hurt McCain's chances, as she did during his presidential run against Obama.

The thing that kept McCain from having a landslide loss instead of a big one was Palin being on the ticket. Thanks to his horrendous political campaigning and strategizing he lost, not because of Palin.

That said, he’s won Arizona primarily by being a moderate so attempting to grab the base’s vote with Palin will likely have a negative affect. This is doubly true if he runs an idiotic campaign once again, trying to go right himself while having Palin there already.

If he’s smart and wants to use her he would:

1. Bring her in only for the primaries to try and grab some of the more staunch conservative votes
2. Keep his traditionally moderate attitude throughout the primaries to an extent and heavily throughout the general
3. Use her ONLY for the Primaries

I suspect she may give McCain a boost in the primary considering her popularity with the base, but may drive off independents and moderates in the general election. Honestly, I don't care much as campaigning is purely up to McCain and she isn't running for office herself.

Bingo, his best bet if he’s going to use her is Primaries and then cut ties during the general. And I’d only suggest that if he is looking likely to lose the primary.

Since there's far too many posts to thank I want to say good job to jallman. Best defense and explanation of all the various issues regarding Palin and Alaska that I've seen. It really highlights the difference between a person that's lived there and really taken the time to dig deep and those that just want to go to a liberal blog site and trust that they got all the information for them.

Well thank you, Zyph. You hit a nail right on the head with the "liberal blog site" bit. 99% of the crap I hear regurgitated against Palin comes, specifically, from the mudflats blog. The lady who writes it self styles herself as an east coast muckraker transplanted to Alaska. It's more of a gossip column than anything else and she even states as much. The media has done wonders for her site, though...having grabbed many of her stories and reported them as news.

Palin is an asset to the country.

And my nuts are roses.

I really don't get why you have such an admiration of somebody who completely failed on the country wide political landscape. Whether Palin is an asset to Alaska, that is for you to decide. The country as a whole decided she shouldn't be anywhere near the White House for a reason.

We'll see what happens in time. IF you will recall, she wasn't the lead on that ticket and the campaign was not hers to run. The country decided against McCain/Palin.

I am not a prognosticator so I have no idea what they would decide on a Palin/____ ticket in another 8 years or so.

I think it is essential for you to realize that since the 2000 election, the role of the Vice President has been greatly expanded in the eyes of the voters. I think if Independent voters(the ones who made the difference in 2008) had seen any merit in what Palin was bringing to the table they would have taken her regardless of who else was on the ticket or where they were placed. Maybe it was because voters were in part voting against the Republican party and Bush as a whole.

We'll have to see in 2012 though if the world doesn't end by then.

By the way, glad to see you again sugarbear.

I agree with you. but you do have fiscal Conservatives and social liberals or vice versa and nothing in between.........

I consider myself a very strong fiscal and social conservative and I stand by that.......If you say I am a Rino becasue I believe in spending how ever much money is need to keep a strong military and defense then so be it but I ddon't agree with you..........

Because I voted for Bush my left wing friend does not make me a RINO unlike you I considered the alternatives in Gore and Kerry and the decision was easy.........I guess like you I could have voted for Ron Paul but to me that was just another vote for Kerry...........

You are young and wet behind the ears...When you get a little older, mature and settle down I believe you might see what a real conservative is..........

Fiscal conservatives, Libertarian conservatives, National Security-oriented
Social conservatives...there are different factions of the Republican party.

Some are pro-choice, some smoke pot.

I just think they are a lot more varied than some people think.

And then there are these guys :):

You forgot RINOs..I believe that there are degrees of conservatives but don't believe thre is a such thing as a liberal conservative which to me is a oxymoron

Anyhow its a little confusing and I might of had one to many scotch on the rocks tonight......;)

Its okay my left wing friend, I understand you care less about principles and integrity and more about just voting for the guy with the (R) next to the name and are in favor of big government and big spending because you're scared. It comes with age perhaps that you no longer realize what a real conservative is..........

I agree though, you can have your fiscal conservative, social liberal types (ala libertarians) or your social conservative, fiscally liberal types (ala neo-cons) and both are "conservative" to a point, but seem more like something You'd call a RINO my left wing friend.

Mind you, Bush fell in the later category

Ah, good taste in liquor though I tend more towards the Bourbon or Canadian side of my whisky derivatives :)

And i think a liberal conservative is just about impossible, a liberal republican however could be potentially possible

I care about voting for the person of whom I agree with the most on the issues...A lot of times when I vote its more of and anti vote in that I voted for Bush because I could never vote for a Kerry or a Gore...........

I think we agree on one thing though....Bush fooled me.....I thought he was a fiscal conservative but he was more of a moderate........One thing for sure though Gore and Kerry where flaming Liberals and I believe Gore is crazy and Kerry is the biggest liar to ever run for president........

Navy.....we know that you are embarassed about voting for Bush....not once....but twice.
But C'mon man....you are never going to fool people into believing that you didn't like the man you called "a great and inspired world leader".

Just fess up. Yes, Bush was a disaster as a President....but don't run from your mistakes...admit them and move on.

This is embarrassing.
Obama addressing a 6th grade class on January 19, 2010.

Has he no brain? You think Palin or Bush would have required a teleprompter to address a class of 11-year olds?

This is one of those photos you have took look at covering your eyes.

What is it with the rights fixation with teleprompters?

It's something about which they can criticize Obama. Trust me, if Bush or a Republican used one, they wouldn't give two poops about it (they probably would have been happy had Bush used it so he didn't sound so dumb when he spoke).

That's an odd spin on it...The thing about the teleprompters is that Obama was hyped as being god's gift to orators and then it was discovered that he's actually a bumbling dolt without his prompter and his speech is cumbersome and painful to listen to.

Not only that, but he goes off message, and lets kitties slip out of the bag.

McCain is such an old man! I'm pretty sure he'll get creamed again.
