Looks like the Democrats have a contingency plan of Brown wins in Massachusetts, and becomes the vote that insures a GOP filibuster of Obama's health plan:

Send the Senate bill straight to the House, and pass it. That way, they avoid the conference committee entirely.

My prediction is that the health bill is going to become law, in one form or another, no matter how the Massachusetts Senate election turns out. One way or another, the damage has already been done.

Something to think about when deciding who to vote for in 2010.

Article is here.

This is one of several options available to the Democrats. They could:

1. Have the House pass the Senate bill, with the understanding that some of the House's tweaks will be passed through reconciliation later (best option IMO)
2. Hastily negotiate a final deal and pass it in both houses before Brown takes his seat
3. Go back to the negotiating table with Olympia Snowe
4. Pass a watered-down compromise bill through reconciliation
5. Use the "nuclear option" and get rid of the filibuster entirely

My prediction: If Brown wins, the Democrats panic like a bunch of idiots and the bill dies altogether. :x

that it will be passed is my prediction as well, and the sooner the better.

And some people should learn how the US government works.

If the House passes the Senate bill, there's no reconciliation, it goes straight to the Messiah.

If the House makes a single change, no matter how small, it has to go to reconciliation, but not as a budget bill, and it would require 60 votes to end debate.

The Senate would have to reconfigure the monstrosity as a budget bill to pass it with 51 votes, and then the House would have to do the same. Which takes time, and all the widdle Congressmen are up for re-election soon, and they're getting more uncomfortable with this disaster every day.

So there's a very very good chance, because Drunken Teddy did us all a huge favor and died, that MessiahCare will go the way of Hillarycare, and the Democrat single-party rule disaster might very well end, too.

The ONLY option is that they send the Senate bill, as is, to Obama. It lacks many of the things so near and dear to Pelosi and her wacko cronies. That would be a political disaster for both Democrats and Republicans.

Ted Kennedy's death is going to SAVE us from socialized healthcare. I will never get over that irony.

The real damage was done between 2000 and 2006 when the GOP spent 6 years taking a dump on this great Nation. If they had governed sensibly then we wouldn't have the 60 vote democratic majority now.

Let's not forget that.

You mean when they failed to stop Dodd and Frank from dumping on this country? Fannie and Freddie belong to the Democrats.

The GOP took a dump, and the Democrats joined them, because Democrats, especially Barney, like that kind of thing.

Fact of the matter is that the GOP proved to be led by the same sorts of sleazy bull****ters that pissed off the Americans in the first place. The Republicans, being damn stupid, didn't get the hint in 2006 when the Americans stayed home. The Republicans listened to the morons on the Left who were proclaiming the GOP was too far to the right.

So, yeah, I'm going to place a whole LOT of blame for the election of the Messiah on the leaders of the GOP, for being idiots.

Problem is:

I doubt if the GOP has learned anything useful from all this.

It's time for the Americans to start voting Libertarian in bigger numbers.

The GOP had control of the House, the Senate, and the White House for 6 years. They could have killed or restrained Fannie and Freddie at anytime. They chose not too.

6 years.

On that I agree.

Maybe you should review, you seem a little fuzzy on the facts.

The GOP controlled all of the committees that had full power over Fannie and Freddie. They chose not to limit the loans being made because they didn't want to slow down the booming housing market.

The GOP and the Dems screwed the pooch. And then all of us.

I know it's fun for you to try desperately to find a way to blame the Dems for everything, but it's simply not true.

The GOP could have killed Fannie and Freddie. And if not killed at least regulated them. They CHOSE not too. For 6 years they had power over every committee and sub committee in the House and Senate. They had control over every piece of legislation that passed through both houses and the White House. And yet somehow you can blame the dems for bad loans from Fannie and Freddie.

That's simply astounding.

Although lending practices were certainly a factor, nothing could have happened without monetary policy. Easy credit and artificially low interests are mainly to blame for the housing bubble. Without the money, there wouldn't have been anything to finance all the speculation and malinvestment.

If it doesn't go the way of Hillarycare it will be tied up in court for the next 50 years..... works for me.

6 years.

Actually, the Democrats controlled the Senate for about 18 months after Jim Jeffords defection from mid 2001 to January 2003.

Fair enough. So let's bump it back to 4 and a half years of solid, unquestioned GOP control of 2 branches of government. You think 4 and a half years is enough time to accomplish something positive?

You say:
"Jack Kevorkian for President's Physician: 2012"

You can't have him. We need him here in the Soviet Socialist Republic of Oregon.

We have assisted suicide here as well as a supplementary healthcare plan for Oregon. If you have cancer and need chemotherapy, they offer to pay for your assisted suicide instead. It is what you call a revenue neutral health care plan. If you need help, they tell you to drop dead and keep the money saved.

It was far from unquestioned....The GOP never had the numbers the Democrats have/had right now.The Democrats were able to block legislation with ease under Republican control.

Education time.

1. They couldn't Kill Freddie or Fannie. That would take years of unwinding.

2. You didn't watch that video.

Dems fought any action against Freddie and Fannie for ages. They had their plants in there. Raines... Gorellick cooking books and siphoning tens of millions for personal gain.

3. Congress, under Clinton made it a penalty under law not to make the bad loans that caused a whole bunch of this mess.

4. Warren Buffet:
Now, these are two incredibly important institutions. I mean, they accounted for over 40% of the mortgage flow a few years back. Right now I think they're up to 70%. They're quasi-governmental in nature. So the government set up an organization called OFHEO... But if you go to OFHEO's website, you'll find that its purpose was to just watch over these two companies. OFHEO had 200 employees. Their job was simply to look at two companies and say, "Are these guys behaving like they're supposed to?" And of course what happened were two of the greatest accounting misstatements in history while these 200 people had their jobs. It's incredible. I mean, two for two!

Supporters of the GOP just keep blaming the Dems for everything. It's amazing. Anything goes wrong on the GOP's watch it's the Dems fault. Apparently everything bad in government belongs to the Dems

When are you gonna understand that this isn't the kind of leadership the American people are looking for. "Man Up" GOP and accept responsibility for your mistakes. And the same should be said to the GOP's supporters.

Stop blaming the Dems. Start leading. Start taking responsibility. And I guarantee you we won't see the GOP getting excited about winning one Senate seat. They'll be excited because they'll have majorities in both houses.

You're right. I blame the democrats for the stimulus plan. I blame them for the UAW bailout. I blame them for the sneaky behind locked door deals on this healthcare debacle. I'm also still pissed about carter. ;)
