    6 years.

Maybe you should review, you seem a little fuzzy on the facts.

The GOP and the Dems screwed the pooch. And then all of us.

I know it's fun for you to try desperately to find a way to blame the Dems for everything, but it's simply not true.

The GOP could have killed Fannie and Freddie. And if not killed at least regulated them. They CHOSE not too. For 6 years they had power over every committee and sub committee in the House and Senate. They had control over every piece of legislation that passed through both houses and the White House. And yet somehow you can blame the dems for bad loans from Fannie and Freddie.

    That's simply astounding.

Although lending practices were certainly a factor, nothing could have happened without monetary policy. Easy credit and artificially low interests are mainly to blame for the housing bubble. Without the money, there wouldn't have been anything to finance all the speculation and malinvestment.

If the House makes a single change, no matter how small, it has to go to reconciliation, but not as a budget bill, and it would require 60 votes to end debate.

The Senate would have to reconfigure the monstrosity as a budget bill to pass it with 51 votes, and then the House would have to do the same. Which takes time, and all the widdle Congressmen are up for re-election soon, and they're getting more uncomfortable with this disaster every day.

So there's a very very good chance, because Drunken Teddy did us all a huge favor and died, that MessiahCare will go the way of Hillarycare, and the Democrat single-party rule disaster might very well end, too.
If it doesn't go the way of Hillarycare it will be tied up in court for the next 50 years..... works for me.

Actually, the Democrats controlled the Senate for about 18 months after Jim Jeffords defection from mid 2001 to January 2003.

Fair enough. So let's bump it back to 4 and a half years of solid, unquestioned GOP control of 2 branches of government. You think 4 and a half years is enough time to accomplish something positive?

    You say:
"Jack Kevorkian for President's Physician: 2012"

You can't have him. We need him here in the Soviet Socialist Republic of Oregon.

We have assisted suicide here as well as a supplementary healthcare plan for Oregon. If you have cancer and need chemotherapy, they offer to pay for your assisted suicide instead. It is what you call a revenue neutral health care plan. If you need help, they tell you to drop dead and keep the money saved.

It was far from unquestioned....The GOP never had the numbers the Democrats have/had right now.The Democrats were able to block legislation with ease under Republican control.
