US to deploy 10,000 troops in Haiti

Up to 10,000 US troops will be on the ground or off the coast of Haiti by Monday to help deal with the earthquake aid effort, US defence officials say.

Tuesday's earthquake has left as many as 50,000-100,000 people dead.

Haitian Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive said more than 15,000 bodies had already been recovered and buried, French news agency AFP reported.
This is a strong and substantial response by the US. How do you feel about the deployement of another 10,000 US troops in a foriegn country?

I fully support all humanitarian and such needed actions and involvement.

It's far different than things such as the Wars in the Middle East and being stationed at foreign, permanent bases and so on.

However, I'd prefer that our responses to foreign-land disasters be more equal and NOT pending on what else we have going on in our country as well as our political leanings in DC, etc. I think thta we should provide sufficient and balanced aid to all countries in need no matter what.

I think it's BS. The rest of the world will just forget about our good will, like they've always done.

That's not hte point of providing humanitarian aide.

It might be related to it - but that's not the sole reason. People should always be willing to help people when they need help. I would want help if I was in a similar situation - sometimes your country just can't do everything for you.

I think too many people IN the US are spoiled by our efficiency and simply don't know what it's like to really be **** up a creek.

That's why our politicians do it.

I agree. I'm just sick of the United States getting **** on by spineless Europhiles even though we're the main stabilizing force on the planet.

    Definitely agree.

I definitely think we should help them as much as we are able, regardless if they remember or not. I just wish our government would do it for the right reasons. I'm sick of trying to impress some elitist cabal of European cunts.

Why should we provide aid to nations that hate us?

If Iran gets a big bumpy like Haiti just did, why should the US help them at all? it's not going to get us anything, it will only aid them in their persistent quest for WMD's.

If they don't like us when they're healthy, to hell with them when they're down.

They'll only bite us again when they're back on their feet.

Let some other nation be the world's patsy.

Well, I could see providing aid to Iran as a method of improving our relations with it's people, if not it's leaders.

In addition to the general moral positive of helping people in need.
