You do it because its the right thing to do.Do you only ever do anything good because you feel you will get recognition?

    Do you think I'm a right-winger?

Now the troop deployment is being seen as catering to Europeans?
Now? I think it's always been like that, to some degree. I'm not trying to bash Obama, if that's what you're implying.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Looks like Obama and the United States have something in common.

It couldn't be that the U.S. takes personal responsibility for Haiti's development following the 1934 occupation, could it? The relationship goes way back.
It certainly does go way back. Look at how much money we've already poured into Haiti. Has it helped them?

If we are on the scene, we don't need to wait for permission from some bueracrats to save ****ing lives. When I saw the US army general talking about how they had to wait, I wanted to strangle the ****er myself. Get your **** together and do something now. A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow.

You're never been in the military right? One of the basic premises of the military is to follow orders. If you do your own thing you suffer severe consequences. It's just the way it is.

Perhaps it's because these people are used to having their corrupt government let them down? So they are used to taking drastic measured to be heard? Not excusing it but it may be a reason.

The U.S. usually deploys troops in other countries during disasters. Why is this it so different this time? I remember Bush putting troops in Asia during the tsunami.

It is something the American government always does. All this bull**** about it doing it to get recognition is ridiculous.
