US to deploy 10,000 troops in Haiti

Well than its obvious you think owning a certain passport makes your life more valuable.I think you should work on your empathy issues.
No, what's obvious is that you can't read any better than you write. Try again.

Wouldnt you say they where doing something both courageous and good?

1000s have died in Haiti people with as much family and experiences and dreams that you have.Today on the news i saw a young woman who had two broken legs and lost all her family except her baby and she was lay down in the street. To want to help such a person is human.Would owning an American passport make her more real?

Well, where's the rest of the world? Where are all the democratic-socialist European paradises? I thought they had it all figured out. They should have tons of extra money and supplies and man-power. France sent like, what? Sixty specialists. That's pathetic.

Well they have given money its just America is alot closer.

Everyone in the US military, past and present, swore to protect this country with their lives. They did not sign up to feed Somalians or Hatians. They did not sign up to die for whatever sob story happens to be on the nightly news that day. For even one drop of blood to be shed in "meals on wheels" missions is an insult to everyone who has ever worn the uniform of our country, and it should be a crime for politicians to risk the lives of servicemembers on such duties.

You want to send someone? Send the Red Cross or the Peace Corps.

Actually, having been involved in a couple of these myself, I can tell you that we were all quite proud to help out. It was quite rewarding, and nowhere near being an insult. The military is the only agency in the world that can bring as many people and as much equipment necessary to handle almost any disaster.

Want to watch a lot of people die a slow and miserable death? Send the Red Cross or the Peace Corps.

Its about time.

You just changed your entire argument.

The United States has to do the right thing, but France gets to be practical.

Which one is it? Are we supposed to be moral or practical?

Well as much as i like winning a debate i did hope to actually change your mind.
What is so ridiculous about your chain of posts is the idiotic assumption that I think nationality matters. I married a foreign national, for ****'s sake.

If you want to win a debate or change a mind, it is generally a good idea not to start off with absurd straw men.

No i think france should give money and what resources it can but who can get there faster? which is what matters in an emergency. Its not a competition its about trying to save people.

Im pretty sure if something similar happened in America you wouldnt of referred to it as a "sob story".I cant see how you expect people to read your posts and not conclude you think nationality matters.

No i think france should give money and what resources it can...

They sent sixty people, and the European Union pledged 4.3 million dollars.

...its about trying to save people.

Is that why France sent sixty people?

I'll let you contend with the various straw men you have constructed. Obviously you prefer them over real people.

Im not trying to defend France or anything im just saying everything that can be done to help should be done and America is in the best position to help.

Well ok this is going nowhere we obvously arent gonna agree.Hopefully we will agree on some subject in the future.Peace.

How terribly impressive for a country with 779,450 troops and a GDP of $2.867 trillion.
Considering Haiti used to be a French colony, one would think they would feel a bit more responsibility than that ...

But it's not being done, and every country except the US will get a pass on their inaction.

No, they just expect us dumb, war-mongering, greedy Americans to fix the problem.

But i thought you didnt care what the rest of the world thinks?

Besides anything lets argue about the numbers later. As long As America is a superpower its always gonna recieve the most attention and criticism it comes with the territory.
