In my experience, the "right thing" is (and has to be) a matter of convenience. Our resources are limited, which meas we have to pick our battles.

Despite the moronic accusations that come our way about our "world policeman" identity, we are no where near such a thing. Our first concern is to ourselves then others. Often, a humanitarian issue is in our interests. Often it is not. We have to be able to point out that foriegn people have to accept that they have do for themseleves before we "intervene."

As far as Darfur, nations like France and China have business to do, which means the UN will never do anything of substance with nay votes coming from the Security Council. It was Bush and Blair that pressured and pushed the UN to even look towards Darfur. And in the end, no one in Europe decided to lead a mission and the UN even dismissed the International Court's decision to bring Bashir up on charges against hunmanity.

The "right" thing is often a contradictory thing anyway. Today, morality is decided by international law. "Right and wrong" comes down to whether or not the decrepit of the earth can get the UN to legitimize their turned backs. It's also decided in accordance to location. Notice how a UN declared "illegal" act over Kosovo met with minimal criticism from Europeans, but a UN declared "illegal" act over Iraq met with extreme hatred and criticism from the same people? The only consistent is American action to do what is "right" despite the twisted criticisms and pathetic focuses on ulterior motive accusations from those who like to think they are our voice of conscience and morality.

Helping Haitians is the "right" thing for two reasons. One, they are suffering and two their suffering will float to Florida. Before long, the critics of the world will focus on the second reason alone. And if the UN wasn't involved and Europe turned its back, we would be criticized for our "intervention" as we were in 1993 and 1994, when people like me were deployed into Haiti to deal with their coup.

"Right and wrong." As long as we keep deciding for the most part what this means, the world will be heading in the correct direction. God help the earth's population across the oceans if we ever take a UN or European attitude about it.

Haiti is on our side of the world. It is our "responsibility" to react and lead efforts. You are not needed. Bosnia and Kosovo was not just on yoour side of the world, but in your own region and it took America to lead both missions. Clinton pulled NATO into Bosnia and kicked out the UN. Over 70 percent of the sorties over Kosovo were American jets. Why is that? Why is it that with all the black and white truth of this people like you choose to accuse others of revision as if the entire world is blind and there is some massive secret you can't let out?

Now that superstar is in the White House the anti-American global Left have chosen to fine tune their hate towards the "Right" (even as your kind criticize Obama for lying to you as if he was supposed to be your President.) You accuse the Right of not caring about human suffering. Yet seem to ignore the tsunami of Indonesia while Bush was in the White House. You also seem to ignore the fact that black Africans sufferred greatly while Clinton was in the White House (white Europeans got coddled though). Of course, the fact that thousands of troops and non-troops already in and heading to Haiti being full of people from the Right and Left seem to go dismissed as well to your kind. This new anti-America attitide yourself, Zeebra, and others are trying to portray as just being a "Right" thing will not work.

Start leading efforts or shut the **** up. That's my opinion.

I would support any humanitarian effort on our behalf anywhere anytime, because we can't rely on to many others to help out. Rest assure they will be those backbenchers who will be quick to condemn us if we don't meet up to their standards.

...and even if we do. Condemnation itself is usually the goal.

I don't think there is any difference between the democrats and the republicans when it comes to corruption, avarice, morals, patriotism, self interests before country, cronyism, nepotism, ethics, truthfulness and anything else I forgot.

They have got this country arguing with each other by connecting conservatives with republicans and liberals with democrats. It's a divide and conquer attitude.

Yep, they have fooled most of the sheep. Ba, Ba, black sheep, have you any wool? No sir, no sir, the factory was sent to china.

I hate to keep repeating myself but "we have the best government that money can buy." Think about going third party. It's the only hope.

Third parties have been tried for centuries and all have failed, think about changing your own current party and rebuilding by getting rid of the trash that currently occupies it.

I have to disagree with the part about "giving up". True third parties have not had made much difference but I don't believe in giving up.

We started with George Washington. Did he have a party? I say we flush all the incumbents down the toilet.

But, like my mother used to say, "Who the hell knows?"

The Republican Party was once a third party. So much for that idea ...

Excuse me but at least the heart of Europe formed the EU, which is a pseudo-country as they'd like to think. But I see your point. Nevertheless, France is already blaming the US for something, so it has begun.

"Fly-over" country voted, and The Donald is now POTUS.
