What a load of utter bull****.

First off the European emergency aid goes through the individual countries not the EU. There are many reasons for this but the primary is that it is much faster for individual countries to donate what they can than call a meeting to agree on what the EU should do. This is by design btw not some bureaucratic excuse. The individual countries have always wanted to be in full control of what emergency aid they can give.

Secondly .. Europe was unable to deal with Kosovo? How so? Explain.

The same goes for Darfur etc. Its normally Scandinavia Ireland, and the Low Countries that send a disproportionate amount of troops.
    Exactly.

It was NATO who bombed Serbia in both situations. It was US, and British, and French and other nations air-forces that did the bombing.

When the Serbians finally gave in, the peacekeeping (yes there was very little combat) forces on the ground first were in both cases the Europeans. The British and French were the first in Kosovo and Bosnia leading the "charge" to take on peacekeeping operations.

we're going to see horrible human suffering in haiti in the next months and years due to its total lack of infrastructure and its political chaos

we're going to get sucked in like an oreck, we're essentially going to occupy the country

and our economy simply cannot handle the strain

    there's no way out

    so much sadness, all around

    Let me say this again...

a few wacko conservatives like you are not, have never been and never will be (i hope) the whole USA.

The US response to this as I have stated elsewhere is highly commendable just like the rest of the world. The politicians standing together in Haiti's time of need is commendable. Bush, Clinton, Obama, both sides of congress (for the most part) side by side, working to help the people of Haiti..kudos. The US military is as always there to help, Kudos. The UN and the rest of the world, there as fast as they can, spending millions in aid as best they can.. Kudos. I commend the Brits who phoned in over 4 million dollars in under 24 hours in aid, I commend the Americans who did the same and got 10 million dollars. I commend all organisations on the ground and around the world working to help the people of Haiti in their hour of need.

We should leave the political bs to after the disaster not during for god sake. It is times like this we need to stand together, just as we did on 9/11, Katrina, the Tusnami, and other disasters around the world. There will be plenty of time for the usual political crap later on.

So I say again.. conservatives and others who use this disaster at its hight or just after it happened, in political attacks are pathetic worthless human beings with no heart.
Oh look the fool who opened with a broadly ignorant and generalized stereotype is of a sudden wanting to be taken seriously. Problem is that as you try to be taken seriously you are lying out yer arse, but by all means post the words "I say again" as you say something for the first time. I was responding to the juvenile moronic stereotyping that is by now a trademark of the PeteEU pose, you're trying to spin out of that idiocy and guess what? It ain't working for you, as the last few pages of posing and spinning have displayed. Act like a hack and guess what? You get recognized as such.

Seriously, why do you bother to breathe?

Sorry, but "right-winger" does not mean, "Anyone who disagrees with PeteEU."

Libertarians are socially liberal or leftist, which means they are not right-wingers. Anyone with a cursory understanding of Americans politics should know this.

And you call yourself a Libertarian?
Yes, I call myself a libertarian. Maybe you just don't know what a libertarian is.

And you have no clue on how the EU aid system works.

yea and? How you think the 400 French you claim got there? And what is this crazy focus on the French always.. gezz. Russia is larger than France and they sent less.. how about China? Why not go after them?

And where do you send the money? Who should get priority.. red cross, UN? What is needed? Money, men or materials? Where is it needed? The money donated by the UN is in the system.. it is gone poof.. given to the UN.

Is that clear enough for you?

Eh? what on earth are you babbling about? You do know what it is right?

    http://ocha.unog.ch/fts/reports/dail...1001161249.pdf

    Look for Denmark.

And as you can see there is still 45million dollars of the US 100 million that has not been allocated.

then stop acting like one by defending the few undefendable heartless morons on the right.
    Excuses are like assholes...

That can only mean you agree fully with what Rush and Pat Roberston said on this.. and that sir is pathetic attitude.

You have also used the classic trick of claiming that if someone attacks one American then one is attacking all Americans. It is usually used by right wingers to derail a thread.. it was used under Bush and it is being used today when the left or others attack certain personalities on the right.. Palin, Rush and so on. And it only helps that the person being critical is not American.. i am just waiting for American to come in and start saying I have no right to discuss things involving America.. oh wait you have already done that.. another classic move when right on these boards are loosing a debate.

It is funny how even when you agree with me that the US is to be commended in its response then you cant stop being the arrogant nationalist chest thumping right winger you are by taking a swipe at others and claiming your own superiority over others.. pathetic attitude.

    Have a good day.
Nice speech. Too bad it has no credibility with any American on this board, right-wing or otherwise.

I also find it telling that anyone who disagrees with your politics must be a "right-winger" who supports Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson. Your infantile insistence on labeling anyone who is critical of your beloved EU is an indication of your partisan narrow-mindedness, something we here at DP have come to expect from you.

Re: US to deploy 10,000 troops in Haiti

I think it's great that we are sending troops. It's a hell of a lot better than using them for war. I believe that from every bad there comes some good. The country has been in shambles for years due to corruption and enviremental diasasters. Only two per cent of it's forests were left because the people used the trees for heat and cooking. Also, the rest of the world could care less about the Haitain people.

The good that will come from this is that maybe the disaster killed some of the despots. With all of the attention and international aid they may be able to start over and turn their country into a more prosperous place.

I must say, by watching videos of the disaster, that the Hatian people are behaving better than our own people during Katrina.

Here are some interesting videos of the calamity done by an alternate media group.

The leader from Haiti has not requested any troops from Europe.

There are a lot of aid and rescue workers from other countries besides us.

Iceland was there from the first day I believe and even china is sending aid.

I think they ought to send a bill to France, though for their former imperialism.

Sorry, but to the people that are making this in to a political shot they need to get a heart.

This is tragic disaster, that many have died in not only is it wrong but it completely uncalled for. Thanks to the IDF, for sending the much need supplies over there.

People, from all over are helping not just the americans. I am glad that we are sending troops over their to help.
