I'm sure glad I'm a white woman. What I think that TSA really needs to do is work with the airlines to create a voluntary pool of pre-screened individuals (utilizing fingerprints, birth certificates, flight records, etc.) who are frequent fliers, make it easier for those folks to dash through security, and then screen the shiz out of everyone else.

I would voluntarily provide anything, including blood and bodily fluids, to skip past the leisure travelers.

Which is a pretty low bar for cops, as they themselves don't know and aren't required to know the law anyway. That's not a knock on cops, either.

But yeah, most TSA agents I've encountered I wouldn't trust to watch my dog. There seems to be a really high thug quotient in the department for some reason. I wonder where they hire these people ...

The ones in my local (tiny) airport are pretty decent guys and gals, I see them almost weekly and practically know them by name. But, in big cities, JFC...what a ridiculous mess.

They already had that, and it failed. And I would much rather wait in line than to have government database my biometric data. **** them.
You know the time is right to take control, we gotta take offense against the status quo

I doubt that there are legions of people with four year or advanced degrees who are just giddy at the thought of taking a job that involves getting yelled at all day by stupid and unruly travelers.

While increasing pay might lure in a marginally more educated group of employees, I very much doubt it would have anywhere near the effect you're implying. Look at it this way - If McDonalds increased the pay for burger flippers by 20%, I bet the demographics of the position would remain largely the same.
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

You must not fly from where I think you fly. The last time I was where I'm thinking of it wasn't substantially better than anywhere else, but it's been a while ...

They never even implemented the system for frequent travelers.

I fly from a small regional airport. We've had the same TSA screeners for years. That's because it actually pays a decent wage for our local economy. So, we have some retired cops, etc. doing the job.

In this economy, I know quite a few people who would consider TSA good money.

Yeah, we could have hired liberal college professors to do the job. At least they'd finally be earning their pay.
