US lifts HIV/Aids immigration ban

A post-issue musing:

Ironic that people with AIDS were banned yet all other contageous and highly infectuous diseases were walking free and easily spread.

Outside of Bill Clinton I've never seen a walking disease.

This ending of the ban is just in time for all the AIDS folks to come rushing to the US for free medical care once the healthcare bill is passed into law.

Ok - people have to be wealthy to come ot the US, travel isn't cheap. . . or here illegaly which has been a problem, it's nothing new.

Many of our own elites go to other countries for health care, as well - so it's a whole full-circle type thing.

That was evidence.

How about you citing a pressing need of the US to admit these diseased individuals to support your case. There's absolutely no reason the doors to the US be thrown open to everyone, so present the case of needs the commands us to accept these people.

I'm not saying there's a specific need to let HIV infected people in, merely that it is a useless gesture to discriminate on those grounds.

The fact that people who aren't allowed into the US can't infect people in the US is irrefutable and sufficient to justify denying diseased people entrance.

Explain why we need to admit diseased individuals.

There's no reason not to since HIV is already present and rampant within the country. Again, it's stupid to try and fireproof a burning house.

Exactly, you can be exposed without volunteering....
Don't look now, but you are bolstering the arguement for banning....;)
Your veiled disdain for the U.S. is duly noted as well.....
Why do foreigners insist on passing judgement on our internal affairs?.....

An argument has to be able to stand on its own before you can bolster it.

Just because I don't view the world through rose coloured glasses doesn't mean I despise the US - quite the contrary in fact.

Two things; one, I am a male hence 'her' is incorrect to refer to me by - two, I am in fact a citizen of the US and have been for some time.

So you like building straw men.

"Teachers" aren't "academics". You would know this if you talked to them.

Au contraire.

Lawyers aren't academics. You would know this if you were willing to admit the disservice they do to this country.

:rofl Don't be daft - lawyers do a "disservice"? Involving onesself in the law is one of the more noble and enlightened pursuits humans have yet invented.

If it weren't for lawyers you wouldn't be able to spout off about politics as freely as you can.

Since I've been to school, I'm perfectly aware of what the "university culture" is, and all real Americans despise that nonsense. People with no real world experience, ie, academics, should not be looked up to by people who's problems aren't what you would call "academic".

I see, so "real Americans" are uneducated hicks then? No wonder much of the Enlightened world have the opinions of the US that they do.

Then again, I was not an impressionable little child when I went to college, but a military service vet.

Bully for you?

In all seriousness, how many people get infected by needle sticks while working at the hospital as opposed to the other traditional methods of injecting HIV into a person, and why should we accept the clumsy immigrants who really are infected by accidental needle jabs when we can choose non-clumsy unjabbed uninfected medical professionals instead?

Having immigrated to this country, I can safely say you know little to nothing about the screening people go through in order to get in legally, let alone get a green card or naturalization. :

Because it's a good idea, is why.

Is there some reason the US should have to allow diseased people in?
i have to say i agree here, unless the person already has family members in the u.s. at least this type of disease.

I'm sorry, I didn't recall seeing a gender on your profile & thought the avatar was a little girl, not a little boy.....My bad!....... :3oops: :)

The fact that I detected your alien roots through your posts speaks volumes......;)
You haven't assimilated as much as you think.....;)

"Little girl"? That is Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII excuse you.

I am a world citizen, assimilation is not my goal. That said, my lack of assimilation does not entail ignorance of my country of residence.

assimilation doesn't mean hiding your roots. and all you did was look at spelling. congratulations.

WARSPIT=
I forget how America despises academics sometimes - maybe if you imported more of them you'd have a decent healthcare system or understand why banning HIV positive legal immigrants is like trying to fireproof a burning house.
Actually it was this snippet that unveiled it.....;)

In other words, you've lost the argument but aren't man enough to be honest about it.

Lost the argument? This isn't school yard tag, I didn't realize we were in a competition, I thought we were trying to get to a truth or dispute a falsehood or simply espouse our opinion. It's quite childish to approach a conversation as if it were a contest and foolish to declare yourself the winner. Your sophomoric attempt at baiting me is clear.

You mean if I tell them that the best way to avoid getting HIV is the best way to avoid, I'm not telling them the truth? Are you suggesting that I tell them an inferior method is better?
Now you are simply being obtuse because unless you are an idiot, you know exactly what I said and what it means.

Senator Edwards is a good example.

Certainly not the first amendment to the US Constitution

My parents immigration to the US in 1955, and they didn't get all the freebies offered to illegals today. They didn't speak English either, and no one from the govt came and took pity on them. I don't consider the amnesty approach by the Dems as much of a screening.

Uh, welcome to the DEBATE Politics Forum......

Oh I see, so then all I have to do is keep repeating some nonsense over and over, regardless of how ignorant, false or ridiculous until no one will debate with me and then declare myself the victor? No thanks.

I think it's a strategy that liberals use sometimes.

Oh.

I wonder why they charge so much money then.

If it weren't for lawyers you wouldn't be able to spout off about politics as freely as you can.

No.

It it weren't for the fact that Americans used their blood, their guts, and their guns to gain independence from England and their blood, their guts, and their guns to keep the freedoms they won, I wouldn't be free.

BTW, I'm a military veteran myself. When have you put your life on the line to defend something?

Lawyers, bah. I get rid of lawyers every morning right after I get up in the morning. And there's always more lawyers to get rid of the next day.

I see, so "real Americans" are uneducated hicks then? No wonder much of the Enlightened world have the opinions of the US that they do.

If they support freedom, they are. Education isn't a prerequisite for the club, supporting freedom is. And guess what? Real Americans don't give a lawyer about world's opinion of us.

Yeah, it's not like I'm married to an immigrant or anything like that.

For some reason, though, my immigrant wife disdains the place she emigrated from. Then again, if she didn't, why would she have left? If you like it better there than here, what's stopping you from leaving?

That the have family members in the country isn't sufficient justification for allowing immigration. If the immigrants already here want to be with their relatives so much, they can go back where they came from.

It's a free country, and thus not complicated at all.

An argument has to be able to stand on its own before you can bolster it.

A bolster is only required when something can't stand on it's own.

You could try using a dictionary.

After all, a bolster is nothing but a long, narrow pillow.

"Little girl"? That is Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII excuse you.

Is there any point in partaking of a epic whose author doesn't comprehend the word "final"?

I am a world citizen, assimilation is not my goal. That said, my lack of assimilation does not entail ignorance of my country of residence.

Then leave if you don't like it here. The "world" isn't a sovereign nation, you're required to make some choices in life.
