15k+ people die in the US every year due to lack of healthcare. How is that civilized?
It's incredibly civilized.
Civilized nations do not steal money from people to support the lazy, indigent, or ignorant.
So since the 14k people died in France how many have died in the US due to lack of healthcare?
None.
Over 7000 people (more than one a day) are murdered in the US by a gun. How is that civilized?
Not one person in the US has ever been murdered by a gun.
Every murder victim is killed by a human being.
At least it was a one off thing in France due to extremes.
Yeah, the United States is hit by Katrina every single year, same bat time, same bat location. That's why no one I cared about dies when it hits.
And it is not like you did not know that Katrina was going to hit...so using your excuse is a bit pathetic.
Our socialist government is incompetent. What can I say?
You could not prevent it, but you did know it was coming. The French and Europe in general did not know that the heat wave would be that bad and last that long.
Naturally. Of course. So when the heat wave struck, something that oh by the way everyone knows happens once in a while, the very civilized French sat back and allowed their elderly to die in their overheated apartments. Their own families cared about them so much they didn't do anything to help them out, and their fine socialist government did nothing, too.
And that's what will happen when the next heat wave strikes France. It's going to happen, everyone knows it will, and yet, tens of thousands of French will die. But, since everyone knew that a heat wave was inevitable, why didn't the French prepare for it and have plans in place to address the known issues?
The heat wave that killed 15k in France killed thousands across Europe and was due to insane hot weather. I lived through it and it was freaking hotter than normal.
Wow. A heat wave that was hotter than normal. What a concept.
France is not Texas, where 30+ degrees is the norm and here we are talking about close to 40 degrees for days. It is not normal to have air conditioners in France or most of middle Europe because the temperature normally dont go over 32 degrees during the summer, so there is no reason to have air conditioners.
That, and so-called "civilized" France isn't affluent, not by US standards.
How does this explain the fact that the social services people didn't find the people suffering from heat stroke and the neighbors of the people suffering from heat stroke couldn't be bothered to help them, and the children of the people suffering from heat stroke couldn't be bothered to help them, either.
What is your point, anyway?
But back to the actual story, the burning of cars in France. Insurance fraud. And feel free to make fun of this part of French society (most French love making fun of it also), but put in perspective when you use it in "we are superior" than the French attempt.
Oh, history shows that just about everyone is superior to the French these days. In the US, they don't burn cars in Detroit on Halloween, they burn houses. They don't mess around with the small potatoes in the US.
