True. All it would have taken was for the people who live in New Orleans to be even passingly aware of the danger of hurricanes and the politicians to have an actual plan for how to deal with them.

New Orleans has been a Democrat strong hold for more than 70 years. If you buy into all the propaganda, it should have been heaven on earth after 70 years of progressive policies. Instead, there was rampant corruption at every level of local, parish, and state government and not one of them did anything right in handling the situation. From the mayor who left town without implementing a plan to use school buses to move poor and disabled to the police who used the opportunity to illegally seize guns and ammunition from lawful owners to the Governor who waited 3 days before requesting federal assistance to Cold Cash Jefferson who used National Guard troops and trucks to save his possessions while people were still dying.

But wait, who got blamed? Bush cause he's the President. Love the double standards with the people who give the Democrats whose responsibility it was a pass while blaming someone who was forbidden by federal law from activating the National Guard and FEMA without a request from the Democrat Governor.

You mean how is there occasional small-scale rioting?

You think those are at all analogous to regular riots torching over a thousand cars every single year? In the largest Lakers riot I can recall (back in 2000), two cars were burned. I posted this thread because I'm astonished at the scope and the frequency with which this occurs in France. If rioters set a dozen cars on fire in NY, it would be considered a massive riot. A thousand just blows the mind.

Your inclusion of the 95 Oklahoma City bombing is such a terrible analogy that I'm not going to bother.
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Well I suppose it's good for the auto companies. I wonder if it's a conspiracy theory wherein the traditional "burn as many cars as you see" is actually spurred by auto makers and dealers. Heheh.

A few rounds of 5.56 or CS or fire hoses, or sonic cannons can stop a riot. strict prosecutions will deter the savages next year..... Easy as pie...

How do you propose one stops a hurricane?
Let evil swiftly befall those who have wrongly condemned us

    It's incredibly civilized.

Civilized nations do not steal money from people to support the lazy, indigent, or ignorant.

    None.

Not one person in the US has ever been murdered by a gun.

Every murder victim is killed by a human being.

Yeah, the United States is hit by Katrina every single year, same bat time, same bat location. That's why no one I cared about dies when it hits.

Our socialist government is incompetent. What can I say?

Naturally. Of course. So when the heat wave struck, something that oh by the way everyone knows happens once in a while, the very civilized French sat back and allowed their elderly to die in their overheated apartments. Their own families cared about them so much they didn't do anything to help them out, and their fine socialist government did nothing, too.

And that's what will happen when the next heat wave strikes France. It's going to happen, everyone knows it will, and yet, tens of thousands of French will die. But, since everyone knew that a heat wave was inevitable, why didn't the French prepare for it and have plans in place to address the known issues?

Wow. A heat wave that was hotter than normal. What a concept.

That, and so-called "civilized" France isn't affluent, not by US standards.

How does this explain the fact that the social services people didn't find the people suffering from heat stroke and the neighbors of the people suffering from heat stroke couldn't be bothered to help them, and the children of the people suffering from heat stroke couldn't be bothered to help them, either.

    What is your point, anyway?

Oh, history shows that just about everyone is superior to the French these days. In the US, they don't burn cars in Detroit on Halloween, they burn houses. They don't mess around with the small potatoes in the US.
