They're civilians of two entirely different Nation-States with two entirely different cast of paradigms, political and socio-economical environments.

This really hits home for me. My girlfriends mother is a flight attendent for Delta and only does international. Her dad is a retired captian from delta as well.

I get the sarcasm and it wasn't a bad idea. It just needs to be freed up from the politically correct bureaucratic BS.

It's the same reason that Hasan wasn't detected as a threat prior to him killing 13 American soldiers.

Then I don't understand the point of your previous post. You acknowledge that the department in question, Homeland Security, was formed during a conservative administration. It's the largest expansion of government in our lifetime.

Is it just possible that there are problems that can't be neatly laid at the feet of one partisan group or another?

What's your point? Just because Homeland Security was formed under a Republican prez, I can't criticise the bureaucracy?

There was no logical reason to throw "leftists" in there. It had zero relevance.

Honestly, it gets extremely dull to read unwarranted attacks in post after post, and muddies the actual issues.

Cut the chaff out, get to logical fact-based arguments.

As noted earlier, the largest expansion of government in our lifetime happened on a Republican watch. So, by the evidence.....?

How about neither? Neither party identifies themselves as "big government," it's a slur thrown at Democrats by Republicans.

But, again, if you want to tell me what leftist big government has to do with the bomber on the Delta flight, I'd be happy to listen.

Thanks for the links, and I am in agreement with you that Bush did increase the size of government, but what he did pales only to what Obama has managed to do in a year's time.

Only the middle link from the Washington Times cites the real reason for all Bush's spending. The country got attacked, and we went to war on terrorism, something that the Clinton administration ignored while this country was attacked countless times. The Bush administration noted that law enforcement departments weren't talking to each other and sharing crucial data about known terrorsts so he created the Department of Homeland Security.

The first link lists mainly charts and expenditures, but no reason for that increase in government just a liberal Bush bash.

The Cato link lists not only spending for the war but spending for labor and economics. Perhaps organized labor should check this link because all I have heard from them was to bash the Bush economics for not doing enough for the working man. The tax cut helped the working man out, not just the rich. It helped everybody.

There was nothing ad hominem about his conclusion. Do you even know what that means or did you use it because it sounded cool?

The left does create more bureaucracy and does increase government far more than Republicans or haven't you been paying attention the last few decades? How about the last year? Hell, how about the last few days?

And he was also right about Political Correctness and being against profiling something the left has been a champion on.
