Did we ever find out if he was really hurt or was it just blood pressure like the article said?

Yep a hedge fund is not a pension fund, there is a big difference between the 2 that you don't understand.

Teachers, firefighters et all do not make enough money to invest in hedge funds.
Hedge funds are play things for people with tons of money and none of those people who have those professions meet the income requirements to invest in a hedge fund.

A pension fund is a retirement fund set up for people who are teachers, firefighters et all. They are not the same thing.

Yes I do not feel sorry for people who stupidly took all their money and invested it in a hedge fund, hedge funds are not for retirement.

Yes I am saying that if you, as an individual, took all your money, that you were counting on for retirement, and put it in a hedge fund, with out even bothering to use independent research, are an idiot.

Heh,heh, looks ole Harry is trying his best to uproot the ole goal post again, with this talk about hedge funds.

34# I just can't bring myself to cry for those that were screwed by him, they were mostly screwed by themselves, they had the majority of the power in that scenario and they chose to believe fanciful crap instead of making wiser choices.

Note the bolded part, nothing there about hedge fund managers was there?
The haggardness of poverty is everywhere seen contrasted with the sleekness of wealth, the exhorted labor of some compensating for the idleness of others, wretched hovels by the side of stately colonnades, the rags of indigence blended with the ensigns of opulence; in a word, the most useless profusion in the midst of the most urgent wants.Jean-Baptiste Say

That's right. To the people who say, "Well if you don't want to be in prison, don't break the law." Its not that simple and they are dangerously ignorant of life's realities. There are many many innocent people in prison. It's bad enough they are there, they should not have to put up with being beaten and raped while there. Obviously practically nobody on here has done a day in prison, much less a year or two. Let me tell you, your justice system doesn't work well. Guilty people with money buy big lawyers that get them to walk while poor people who could be innocent only get a public defender who does nothing for them but help them get locked up. Whether or not either actually did the crime is long forgotten.

And as far as I know, when a judge sentences someone, they are sentenced to time at a facility, not sentenced to physical abuse.

While I think Madoff is scum like anyone else, he doesn't deserve to be beaten up. He was sentenced to life in prison, that's enough. He doesn't get to keep his money. What his crime was is irrelevant. He is serving his sentence which was time, not physical abuse. To think that I share the roads with people like whom I see on this forum scares me. Two wrongs do not make a right. You don't even know whether or not this person is innocent or guilty, just that they are in prison.

Really, some of you need to experience life behind the walls for a little while. It would be an eye opening experience for you, especially if what you did, and what they SAY you did, were two totally different things. I could tell you stories that would BLOW YOUR MIND.

Well, the Europeans aren't much better, nor our northern neighbors. The Germans release terrorists, the Brits release terrorists, the Canadians entertain Sharia law and their sentencing is laughable.

No system is perfect, but they have worked hard to improve it... at least they aren't releasing terrorists.

If you're not safe in a maximum security facility, where can you be?

And none of those countries have nearly as high a crime rate as we do.

They also have far less liberty than us. It's a pro and con world. The Middle East has less crime than Europe. It seems that the less liberty a society has the more behaved they are. Perhaps freedom is over rated.

Neither country has removed liberty from more of their citizens than has the US, who lock up a bigger percentage of their population.
