Which is expected when conventional warfare would obviously result in a defeat. Iran is not run by idiots despite the lunatic rantings to the contrary. They use asymmetrical because symmetrical is a losing proposition. No one in their right mind fights an enemy where they are strongest. Did the Republican Guard repeat Desert Storm? No. They learned their lesson.

    1. Muslims have been doing this for 1400 years.

    2. Iran is the successor state to Persia. The Persians and Persian states have been involved in the wars against Christian lands. The Sassanid Empire (a Persian empire) made multple attacks on the Eastern Empire -- a Christian Empire. The Persified Great Seljuk Empire (whose capital was in Persia) also made numerous attacks against Christian lands.

    3. Other Muslim groups, especially the Arabs, but also the Ottoman Empire, have a long history if attacking and conquering Christian lands.

Why shouldn't the Christian world respond? Instead, we condemn the very Crusades that were undertaken to counter centuries of Muslim aggression.

We also know that this current regime has threatened the democratic nation of Israel. In the long history of the wars between Islam and Christianiaty, one of the few Muslim rulers who had any sense of honor was Saladin.

The first stone -- in THIS conflict? That was cast nearly 1400 years ago...

To wit, we should understand that they ARE in a war with us and we should respond accordingly.

    Care to clarify?

Oh I get it. You're putting all Muslims in the same category and judging them by the actions of their ancestors. Can we apply the same standards to Christians then? If so it will quickly become apparent you're pushing a double standard here.

Hell if you want to be fair Manifest Destiny in the New World was nothing more than an excuse by the Christians to commit genocide and enslave people.

Sorry but I get very cynical when people justify bad things with religion.

This is about the Islamic-Christian conflict that has been ongoing for nearly 1400 years. We are judging Iran now only on the actions of the past, but also on what they are doing today and have done since the revolution in 1979 where they have repeatedly violated international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The Muslims look at this as a continuation of a 1400-year-old conflict that they initiated with the idea of converted the world to Islam. Pope Urban II understood the threat. Too bad with our political correctness of today that we not only don't understand the history, but condemn the efforts of our own side to fight back.

Iran is more accurately in a proxy war with Israel.

    Care to clarify?
It's night to day compared to the current president. And it was under him that the Grand Bargain was proposed which would effectively bring a recognized peace between Iran and Israel.

The worst he called Israel was a "parasite." Which if you look at the net transfer of dollar valued assets between the US and Israel is not that far off.

Also remember that the economy under Khatami was excellent with economic expansion, cheap gas and lots of jobs. Interestingly enough, we did not hear the kind of statements that get put up in the press until Ahmadinejad's futile economic attempts at boosting the economy failed.
