Howard Dean: Health Care Bill 'Bigger Bailout for the Insurance Industry Than AIG'

Re: Howard Dean: Health Care Bill 'Bigger Bailout for the Insurance Industry Than AIG

Of course it is. I've said from the beginning that anything our current government comes up for in terms of healthcare will be nothing more than a play to the insurance companies. People who think the government is somehow still beholden to us need to wake up. The Democrats aren't going to do anything which benefits us on the whole if it doesn't first benefit the uber rich and huge corporations which feed it. Neither will the Republicans. The quicker people understand this, the quicker we can get to work trying to change it.

I second those emotions. I say we deprive corporations of their bogus "person hood", like the founders wanted.

Didn't Paul's bill clear the house?

j-mac

Yeah, that one made it through the house. Gotta see how far the bill goes. I want it passed, I want to audit the Fed and have those books opened to the People. That's our god damned money, we should know what the snakes in the central bank are doing with it.

Dude, the American people are overwhelming in support of health care reform in general and a public option in particular.

You'll find very few people that support the current way the health care system is but that doesnt mean everyone wants to be taken care of by the Federal Government.

Dude, I'm the guy who killed Superman.

 Good one!

What does "right" mean?

Well, to me 'right' means something that doesn't take over and change the entirety of the system, while lowering costs, without degrading our care, and doing this in a bill that is understood by the laypeople reading it. NOT some cumbersome 2000 page + monstrosity that delves into "social justice" and "redistribution" taking away freedom.

I am with you, and Dr. Paul 100% on this.

Dude, under the House Bill that passed and the Senate Bill that is being considered, the only thing that will we taken care of by the government is some of the cost of health insurance premiums of some of those with low incomes.

Re: Howard Dean: Health Care Bill 'Bigger Bailout for the Insurance Industry Than AIG

I'll take that to mean you have no idea what doing health care reform right looks like.

No, I was being a smart ass and giving a definition of "right".

The federal government is the reason WHY health care costs are so high

Explain why you believe only one of the problems with our health care system should be addressed.

I know exactly what it looks like. It looks like stricter regulations on the insurance companies, the government taking over big things like cancer treatments, diabetes, organ transplants, etc, and leaving private insurance for things like colds, prescriptions, broken bones, standard sort of things. In that way, you remove the biggest monetary drains from the insurance companies, which allows the cost of private health insurance to drop and the bigger things, much of which is the basis of the "pre-existing condition" scam run by insurance companies is taken out of the market forces and supplied via government.

You ain't gonna get that through the government though, and that's the real problem.

I am not saying only one problem should be addressed. But could we possibly address one at a time, so that we can know and understand what is being done?

Wow....Dean is being so honest, I have to wonder who pissed him off?

Re: Howard Dean: Health Care Bill 'Bigger Bailout for the Insurance Industry Than AIG

so how about it liberals? Should Congressional demo's "kill the bill"?

j-mac

Yup. In order to get this done, the progressives had to bend to the conservatives who ruined the bill. It's incredible that anyone could ever blame the liberals for this because they would have gladly had a public option or single payer but conservatives (in both parties) just wouldn't listen to reason.

Here's a few names: Nelson, Lieberman, etc.

Re: Howard Dean: Health Care Bill 'Bigger Bailout for the Insurance Industry Than AIG

We soured on it because it's not liberal enough. That's what you don't get. There is overwhelming support for a public option which is not in the senate version of the bill.

Let's see a poll showing an overwhelming support for a public option. Thanks in advance.

Huh? Conservatives make up 40 votes in the Senate. How is this a conservative problem when demo's have the 60 vote majority to pass it without a single cross party vote? Evidence of this is found by locking out any repubs from the process. Now you want to blame it on conservatives because you can't heard your own cats?

Good one! :rofl

Nice try to shift blame. This bill is totally owned by the Democrats.
