    I think there's a difference between being attracted to men and being "gay". Gay is an identity- a fashion, a subculture and a "scene".

    I don't feel a lot of familiarity with the mainstream gay scene.

    For Houston.

    There have been other smaller cities with openly gay mayors. One off the top of my head is Portland:
