As such, I tend to vote for the Republican party. However, I would have voted for Hoffman in NY23. If the Republicans ever discover that being Democrat lite is a losing position, then they may return to the more classic fiscal conservative policies that I could get behind.

In the mean time, the Democrats are taking this president's term to try to move the country irrevocably left. I think you are seeing the push back from the American people against both the policies and the Democrat party that is trying to implement them.

The real interesting time will be the next 10 months leading up to the mid term elections. If the Democrats push through Cap and Trade, Insurance reform, etc., I think you will see many Democrats voted out and the Republicans and Independents who are voted in having a mandate to reverse these policies. Should make for an interesting next 3 years.

What is that old proverb/curse? May you live in interesting times.
except the majority of the country WANTS insurance reform.

How are you going to make a nutrious meal for that? Its not just about laziness as you guys always claim.

or you buy a box of hamburger helper for a couple of dollars and a pound of ground beef for a couple dollars.
    Still not healthy.

    Eating healthy costs money.
Or you could buy a bag of salad mix for $2. and cook a chicken breast ($1.) and serve a healthy meal.

Serve water with it and you have a low-cost healthy meal.

It does take a little effort and you have to actually control what your kids eat instead of just giving them what they want to shut them up.

If third parties are allowed access so that people can see their platforms, it's easier to servo the main parties by attacking their power base. If, for example, the GOP gets too far out of line. Runs down the neocon road of big government and big war; you can have third parties which then siphon off votes from the GOP. They lose some voters to the third parties. The majority of the elections (particularly on the national scale) are 50/50 + noise. Which means that for the most part, the vote is split in half and each election cycle there is some "noise" which will push one party over to the win. If you affect that noise, you affect party power and dynamics and can force changes within the party's policy

For the example above, say the GOP pisses off some conservatives...a lot. The third parties are presented, they can participate, people know what their platform is. So people instead of voting for the GOP, vote for say Libertarian. The GOP now loses and will continue to lose until it can recapture the lost votes. Or if they never come back, you have a party in place which can replace them.

Never? You think the US started out from the get go with Republicans and Democrats? It's harder for them to win now because they are shut out of the process. The system is stable at 2 main parties because of the way we set up the winner take all method of winning. But it's not impossible, and there's no reason for the current 2 main parties to set the rules to prevent anyone else from challenging their power.

On anything that matters he's the same. Health Care is a waste of time deflect issue which will not be handled correctly (like the majority of Bush's administration). Cap and Trade is a BS deflect policy which will never be instated. The bailouts were gifts to the rich, much as Bush and the rest of the Republocrats do as much as possible. The stimulus was just further expansion of government and reckless spending, which was pretty much exactly how Bush did it.

I'm starting to understand why you're confused about issues here.

The party isolates itself from my influence by pretending that there are only two choices and playing off of those choices. Voting for the lesser of two evils leaves you with evil. Continuing to support the status quo will not change the status quo.
You know the time is right to take control, we gotta take offense against the status quo

If the people knew what was really in the bill, there would be a revolt.

You might be able to get a bag of iceberg lettuce mix for $2 (which has no nutritional value)....Salad greens that actually have nutritional value run in the 3-4 dollar range. And you are going to serve three kids 1 chicken breast?

    Such as?

Name three or four items you think are in the bill that would qualify.

I buy salad mix all the time with lettuce, carrots, cabbage, and radishes in it for that price. It's very cheap, but of course I shop at Wal-Mart so I'm probably paying half what you are for organic salad at your union grocery.

Yes, one chicken breast cut into strips and chunks is plenty for three kids. If not, they're cheap so throw another one in there.
