I'm surprised this didn't get any attention in the US. Given the close ties the evangelical and political right has had in Uganda and their proselytizing against gay rights there, I'd think they'd be proud of all of their work and how it's turned out. /sarcasm

American evangelical Christians certainly will have a lot to answer for if this bill passes. I wonder how many of them are secretly patting each other on the back for exporting this particularly heinous anti-homosexual rhetoric turned into law.

1.1. The principle
The object of this Bill is to establish a comprehensive consolidated legislation to protect the
traditional family by prohibiting (i) any form of sexual relations between persons of the same
sex; and (ii) the promotion or recognition of such sexual relations in public institutions and other
places through or with the support of any Government entity in Uganda or any non governmental
organization inside or outside the country.
This Bill aims at strengthening the nation’s capacity to deal with emerging internal and external
threats to the traditional heterosexual family.
This legislation further recognizes the fact that same sex attraction is not an innate and
immutable characteristic.
The Bill further aims at providing a comprehensive and enhanced legislation to protect the
cherished culture of the people of Uganda. legal, religious, and traditional family values of the
people of Uganda against the attempts of sexual rights activists seeking to impose their values of
sexual promiscuity on the people of Uganda.
There is also need to protect the children and youths of Uganda who are made vulnerable to
sexual abuse and deviation as a result of cultural changes, uncensored information technologies,
parentless child developmental settings and increasing attempts by homosexuals to raise children
in homosexual relationships through adoption, foster care, or otherwise.

2. The offence of homosexuality.
(1) A person commits the offence of homosexuality if-
(a) he penetrates the anus or mouth of another person of the same sex with his penis or any other
sexual contraption;
(b) he or she uses any object or sexual contraption to penetrate or stimulate sexual organ of a
person of the same sex;
(e) he or she touches another person with the intention of committing the act of homosexuality.
(2) A person who commits an offence under this section shall be liable on conviction to
imprisonment for life.

(2) A person who commits the offence of aggravated homosexuality shall be liable on conviction
to suffer death.

4, Attempt to commit homosexuality.
(1) A person who attempts to commit the offence of homosexuality commits a felony and is
liable on conviction to imprisonment seven years.
(2) A person who attempts to commit the offence of aggravated homosexuality commits an
offence and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for life.

The death conviction is death by hanging.

Anyone who KNOWS someone is homosexual and doesn't report them, will serve up to 3 years in prison for not turning them in.

14. Failure to disclose the offence.
A person in authority, who being aware of the commission of any offence under this Act, omits
to report the offence to the relevant authorities within twenty-four hours of having first had that
knowledge, commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding two hundred
and fifty currency points or imprisonment not exceeding three years

Oh I agree.. it does not matter unless someone suddenly claims that Christians cant commit genocide or terror or mass murder.. :)

I heard that the EU leadership are considering sanctions against Uganda if the law is not removed.. I know several EU countries have already to block aid based on this.

Let's see, hitler had an affair with his niece leading her to suicide, There were rumours of him and one of his drivers having a homosexual relationship, he lived with a woman without being married, he started a world war and finished up with developing murder factories in his concentration camps that killed millions of jews and christians. If this is your idea of a christian......you're wrong.

Hitler turned away from Christ in 41-42, which is when he began his genocide campaign in earnest.

Hitler was for some time Christian, but not while he was tossing Jews into ovens. He was a pagan at that point, worshiping Wotan among others.

I mean it was Blacks who shut down gay 'marriage in CA, and now you have a Black trying to impression/kill gays, not Christians per-se.

Actually Africans are majority Christians in many countries and they are very much hardline. Anti Gay/Witch killings.
So this judgement is not very surprising considering the fact the Bible is violent if one wants it to be.

if one wants it to be. this doesn't hide the fact that this law has little to do with christianity and more to do with African nation's being instability-prone. When the religious right pushes a referendum to kill gays, then I'll be worried. Untill then, this is just normal liberal generalization bs about how intolerant christians are.

First off, there are black people outside the US you know. Secondly black people in America rarely vote for "religious conservative bigots", because they are from the Republican party.

But in Africa (you know where blacks come from), Christians are very conservative and among other things burn children as witches.

Its not a generalization. The facts are pretty simple. American radical Christians are an intolerant bunch.

African Americans tend to vote for Democrats.
But I was under the impression we were discussing Uganda where Africans who tend to be Christians are hardcore on their beliefs and are conservative.

Christianity or rather religion undoubtedly influences a opinion. The bible is not very nice to gays which can be seen as a way of justifying said behaviour.

Over 80% of the population in Uganda are Christians nearly half of that population being Catholics.
Catholicism is not exactly ... tolerant of differences.

Well then, let's see how the pope addresses the issue, either way, not even christian sects are fond of Catholicism for it's intolerance.

Besides, this is just uganda being uganda, worse things happen there, not because of christian missionaries but just because of overall political instability.

PeteEU; however, likes to blame christianity for every bad thing, like the holocaust, instead of the real culprit, nazism.

Hey PeteEU, a lot of the people that started the EU were christians, did christianity take credit for that?

And blacks in africa like to hang intruders upside down and cut their penises off in local rituals. Oh yea, blacks are christian so it's christianity's fault to, right? :roll:
