    no doubt.

I would, personally, like a re-structuring of the term "Terrorism". It only holds weight, now, to exaggeration the opposition.
"I do not underestimate the ability of fanatical groups of terrorists to kill and destroy, but they do not threaten the life of the nation. Whether we would survive Hitler hung in the balance, but there is no doubt that we shall survive al-Qa'ida." -- Lord Hoffmann

They don't have to clamp down in the name of control. They already have the control via a willing population who is increasingly dependent on government for survival. Admittedly, a sizeable willing, sane, and mindful enough segment of a population can prevent and sometimes overturn that trend, but it's not usual in my observation.

I said control is the nature of government (ie governmental structures). The men are of nature, and men make up government. It's the nature of men who are in governing positions to try and maintain or increase power. It's the concept of government and its implications.

It's not a justification. It's an observation of humans and their nature. I am the last person who desires an authoritarian regime in control. I am sufficiently capable of controlling my base instincts, my greed, and my use of resources. I don't expect anyone else to pay my way. I don't expect to be treated special. I expect to pull my share of the load. People like me are declining in numbers.

The people have become weak, demanding, and self-focused. It's not what is in the country's best interest that people vote for, it's what's in the best interest of the individual, who wants to pass his/her own responsibility onto others.

The government exists on the sufferance of the people who are willing to sacrifice. Those who pay the taxes. Those who are supporting the ones who vote themselves taxpayer money. It was a wonderful idea for the founding of a country, but many of the people have betrayed the principles upon which the US was founded.

Many of us have given the government that right through negligence and dependency.

...Qutb didn't single them out as the ulitmate scapegoat of all things anti-God for the Muslim people in the 1950s.

We did nothing as compared to what the Soviets did to them...yet we are the "Great Satan." Foriegn policy is a scapegoat for the foolish who need to believe that there is something practical behind the madness. I find that most athiest are cluelsee of what our enemy is.
