34,000 troops will be sent to Afghanistan

No! It wouldn't.
I'm starting to think that only nuclear carpet-bombing up in the mountains will take out the Taliban and al Qaeda. Yeah, radical and nuts....but frankly I'm tired of ****ing around with the sons of bitches.

assuming you are correct, which is a big assumption, would that not be good?

It's only good if you feel like going back to Afghanistan a few years after we leave.

There are many people that feel the same way....I hear it every day from Conservatives and Liberals alike.

I mean, do you honestly believe that the United States will pull out if they have made zero headway in the war with the Taliban?

Both administrations have been consistent with their justification for the Afghanistan war. It's what I call "Harvesting National Security". Do you believe that this administration will abandon the operation, if it's no favorable improvement in struggle against the extremists?

I think you are implying partisanship unnecessarily in this objective.

Depends if the move will politically help Obama. Obama is all about Obama

Training the Afghans is not going to be the problem. They already know how to shoot (chances are they've shot at the US once or twice).

The problem is that 18 months is going to be allotted time to re-wire their culture, and level the ethnic and cultural discrepancies in the Afghan population.

Military tactics, and how to stand Rank-N-File doesn't take long (it's only a summers worth for Boot Camp in the US; and that's really all we want out of Afghan, privates.), it's going to be re-wiring the culture that's going to be the most pressing.

No the pullout is to get votes for the election at that time.

I think we can do it without all that mass detruction.

And, our troops won't kill any of them. Get it?!?

and our troops won't "accidentally" kill as many civilians which leads to more people wanting to join the taliban.
