Kentucky Census Worker's Death Was A Suicide, Police Say

The Kentucky census worker who was found hanging from a tree with the word "fed" written on his chest was not the victim of foul play, authorities announced today.

Instead, they believe 51-year-old Bill Sparkman killed himself and set up the scene so that it would appear he'd been murdered. Sparkman apparently hoped his son would then be able to collect on a life insurance policy.

According to the Associated Press, a news release from Kentucky State Police says investigators believe Sparkman acted alone in setting the scene. They also say he had recently taken out two life insurance policies.

Is it foolish of me to hope that this might keep people from jumping to conclusions so quickly in the future?

I want an autopsy performed by somebody who is NOT from Kentucky.

I do not believe he committed suicide. That is bull****. Kentucky is trying to save its sorry image by blaming the victim.

Again ... we need federal oversight.

The newspaper quotes state police Capt. Lisa Rudzinksi as saying authorities believe his death "was an intentional act on his part to take his own life."

She said it appears he wanted to cover up the manner of his death because a life insurance policy would not have covered a suicide, the paper reports.

Rudzinksi noted there was no sign of struggle, nor was there any other DNA on rags found in Sparkman's mouth and nearby.

She also said the letters on his chest were written from bottom to top, not the way an assailant facing him would have done it.

Rudzisnki said the suicide conclusion was shared by all the law enforcement agencies involved, including the FBI, state police, and state medical examiner's office .

I still think we need an autopsy performed by somebody who does not owe their soul to the State of Kentucky.

    You're mistaken, Right_in_NYC.

Glen Beck & Sarah Palin did it. GD told us so, months ago.

The conclusion that this was a suicide is not based on an "autopsy." An autopsy is used to determine the medical cause of death. The medical cause of death is not in dispute here - hanging. What the investigators were trying to determine is why the worker was hanged. The conclusion of that investigation, which is shared by the FBI and state officials, is that it was done for life insurance money.

I am, so are some people to Kentucky, not that being born there makes you an unintelligent hillbilly hate monger.

Gotta love that "liberal tolerance" that is giving traditional liberals, such a bad name.

Trust me. Vader may be a lot of things but if there's one thing he is not is a recognizable political persuation. I honestly don't think you could place him in the "liberal" or "Conservative" camp. He's just.........Vader

Says who? You and the right-wing insurance nazis who are trying to avoid paying out on a policy?
