Quietly, the President Finds That Golf Is No Slam Dunk

Yeah, inflate your tires and turn down the thermostat whille I buy $500 shoes.

What do you have against wealth? You damn commie leftist!

You guys are so ****ing lucky I'm not President.

I would be playing lazer tag and paint ball all on YOUR dime-- that is after my thumbs stop bleeding from all the Mario Kart 64 and Harvest Moon 64 i'll be playing.

yes, i would think that many, many americans who have been asked to make big sacrifices are gonna be at least somewhat turned off by HEADLINES about mrs o's pricey footwear

that's just the way people are

laughing at them, disparaging them, insulting them probably doesn't help, either

That would be fine, at least you wouldn't be doing any damage to the country that way. At $400K/year it would be a bargain.

Nothing, but I do have something against hypocracy.

So show me where Michelle Obama said people should not buy shoes. Show me where Obama said we should not play golf.

Dude! I so want to run as a lame-duck President.

"Vote for me! I promise not to leave my oval office on Wednesdays or Tuesdays, but I also promise I will be doing nothing but catching up on all the episodes of Scrubs I've missed back in 2007"

Yeah right, if that were true, you wouldn't be posting here since most of your posts contain hypocrisy.

Please explain to me why the Obamas, who are both wealthy even before Barack became president, shouldn't spend their personal money on whatever they can afford. They're not dipping into public coffers, it's all from their salary or accumulated wealth.

Wealthy from doing what exactly? Last I checked, there's not much money in community organizing. Hmmm.

i believe obama's books have sold very well.

He plays some golf - who cares? Everyone needs and deserves a day off - and he's the president, he doesn't get any "days off" - not even while he's on vacation.

When my husband was deployed in Iraq (16 of an 18 month tour) he had a schedule - some of it was "off duty" - and he'd make me jewelry in his down time. . . some awesome pieces, very pretty - all cool.
I use to post pictures of his work online with my jewelry-business and the negative comments I'd get were agregious. . . things like "he's suppose to be fighting and killing, not making you jewelry" and crap like that.

People don't get it - Everyone in the world has a job, they do their job, and sometimes they get to have some "down" time (nights, weekends, etc) . . . but it's never really "down" time for the president and soldiers, etc, because they're living at their work, their duty follows them everywhere along with personal assistants and everything else.

Though I don't like Obama, didn't vote for him, and would rather have McCain or Barr as president I don't feel like that robs him of the right to *try* to relax.

because it looks bad

maybe not to you, but to many

and there's nothing to be gained from it

at least, not from its BEING TALKED ABOUT

and people ARE talking about it

and glenn beck's not the bigmouth doing the blabbing, not this time

it contributes to an image lots of people are forming of him

in my opinion

There is from being a best-selling author, from being a hospital administrator, and even being a politician pays fairly well.

Why does it look bad? It's their money, they earned it legitimately, and it's not going to anything obscene.
