I agree, I am looking for Tim Pawlenty to come up huge, especially coming from a blue state.

I am currently rather amicable towards Pawlenty. I would have to hear more of his platform and get some more data before decisions can be made of course; but from what I heard he seems like a politician who can do some real good.

We need a radical change, but I fear we will not get this change in the next election, but anything would be better then the current path we are on.

It may be tougher after Bush, but I think Reagan could do it. But basically you're saying the only reason Obama won was because he had the great fortune to run after Bush.

Yes indeed, that is what propelled Obama, that, and the fact that he was black, and this was historic. I think we are all now beginning to understand how irresponsible this can be, electing people based on issues like race, charisma, cult followings, etc. We need successful business men and woman, people who have been proven leaders, not just hope and change.

Obama won because he ran after Bush.

John Kerry ran at a time of "anyone but Bush", but was so terrible that he couldn't actually beat him. Anyone with a pulse could have beaten Bush in that election...too bad the democrats hadn't found one. When Bush was out, there was still a very harsh (and perhaps deserved) anti-Republican sentiment. It did make Obama's job easier for sure, but as seen in the previous election just because you're not Bush doesn't mean you'll win. Not only did Obama get a bump from running after Bush, but the Republicans put up McCain who couldn't win. He was associated too much with Bush.

Of course, I told everyone before the election that Obama was nothing special and would behave just as poorly as any other politician. But the people lining up on their knees for Obama wouldn't hear it. We're just setting up a horrible cycle.
