Ever see a traffic jam over a car accident? Welcome to Sarah Palin's book sales. I suspect that at least 100,000 copies were sold to different media outlets "researching" her claims. How many copies do you think CNN bought? They assigned 8 reporters, FULL TIME, to investigating her stories for factual errors.

To support this I've brought up examples of people having what may seem like 'many' supporters but still being irrelevant in the long run. Would you like for me to explain what a strawman argument actually is or would you like to stick to one liners from now on so that I don't notice you enough to make you look silly?
Strawman. 300,000,000 is merely the use of an unrealistic inflated number. That assumes that even infants could buy it, and a copy for each person in a family that might share a book. Totally ridiculous. Your point is irrelevant anyway, if it becomes a best seller it will be as relevant as any other best seller.

I'm sure that's it... The media buying them is responsible for all those books being sold...

You're referring to Lynn Vincent, Palin's ghostwriter, correct?

The "success" of such books comes largely from the Conservative Book Club, Scaife-funded NewsMax, and other partisan organizations who buy in bulk and essentially give them away.

    Conservative Authors Sue Publisher

Five authors have sued the parent company of Regnery Publishing, a Washington imprint of conservative books, charging that the company deprives its writers of royalties by selling their books at a steep discount to book clubs and other organizations owned by the same parent company.

In a suit filed in United States District Court in Washington yesterday, the authors Jerome R. Corsi, Bill Gertz, Lt. Col. Robert (Buzz) Patterson, Joel Mowbray and Richard Miniter state that Eagle Publishing, which owns Regnery, “orchestrates and participates in a fraudulent, deceptively concealed and self-dealing scheme to divert book sales away from retail outlets and to wholly owned subsidiary organizations within the Eagle conglomerate.”

Traditionally, authors receive a 15 percent royalty based on the cover price of a hardcover title after they have sold enough copies to cover the cost of the advance they receive upon signing a contract with a publisher. (Authors whose books are sold at steep discounts or to companies that handle remaindered copies receive lower royalties.)

In Regnery’s case, according to the lawsuit, the publisher sells books to sister companies, including the Conservative Book Club, which then sells the books to members at discounted prices, “at, below or only marginally above its own cost of publication.”

The authors also say in the lawsuit that Regnery donates books to nonprofit groups affiliated with Eagle Publishing and gives the books as incentives to subscribers to newsletters published by Eagle.

The authors argue that because at least a quarter and as much as half of their book sales are diverted to nonretail channels, sales figures of their books on Nielsen BookScan, which tracks about 70 percent of retail sales but does not reflect sales through book clubs and other outlets used by Eagle, are artificially low.

It is rather funny how both sides of the political aisle are using her book sales as a measuring scale as to how great or horrid she is. Honestly, who really cares how many books she sells? If you don't like her politics, you don't like her politics..if you do, you do. Book sales don't really mean anything other than the fact that she is a polarizing figure and is still in the spotlight, which means that many people from all walks of life will be interested in reading her book. She holds the interest of both sides for very different reasons.

Forget book sales. How about how she polls higher than Obama now? That is what should concern liberals, especially since, in the end, she won't be the Republican candidate anyway.

Well, that's really Obama's doing and based on his performance thus far as President. If Obama wants higher polling numbers he needs to start living up to the many grandiose campaign promises that he made.

You know it's hackery gone wild when Glenda shows up. So lots of people have ghostwriters, that in no way proves they were literary lemmings to the ghostwriter. Anyone who isn't a professional author and is a celebrity, and decides to go it alone is a fool. I don't suppose Glenda would like to acknowledge Hillary and Bill Clinton's use of ghostwriters?

Of course many people use ghost writers. It's not a big deal. However, I can certainly understand her comment considering that you said that Palin herself was a good writer. Does that mean Palin is stupid or incapable of writing? No, it doesn't.
