My issue is this: if a family of 4 loses it's primary source of income McDonald's or the military is kinda out of the question.

    2. Good that you aren't pulling unemployment, but what are you putting INTO the economy? C'mon you have to spend a little money somewhere...

Never said that it didn't. Although i view it as frivilous to state unemployment is a measure of laziness (absurd really)....

I do not need to pull unemployment, as i have an income.

    Seriously?

    This is exceedingly old news.

America's real unemployment rate. - By Daniel Gross - Slate Magazine

    That was in 2004.

When did they start monkeying around this? I know it was before Clinton came to power. His numbers were total crap due to the recalculation of the rate. Might have been during Reagan, especially since his flooding the market with money during inflation did not help

What are you doing with that income, if you don't mind me asking.

Obviously you can tell why there is such a big discrepancy in the reporting of "unemployment."

Is it safe to say that this was your attempt to expose the liberal media?
There has to be some definition. I mean retired b people are unemployed but should they be included in the numbers? Most would say no. The real issue is that different formulas are used between now and in the thirties so it's hard to make a direct comparison. Not surprising, it's typical GOVCO semantics. The President doesn't want to be the one that has an unemployment rate equal to or greater than the great depression.

Investing, consuming, saving, etc.... Like any normal person. I am self employed BTW.

ha, I'd say above average person if you're investing. Most people don't know how to live within their means let alone invest properly.

I don't remember people doing that, but the problem of people giving up on looking on work is probably greater during a recession than in good times. This number is probably better and I'd be happier if it was always used instead of our current measure.
