It would cause more poor kids to have to serve in the military. Unfortunately for all you rich folk haters, it would have the opposite effect that you're shooting for.

Either or both are fine with me.
I know you're being sarcastic but it seems to me that many people are quick to pledge someone else's money and life...and that's just not cool with Brock's rules.

It seems to me the real root problem is that many people are quick to pledge someone else's money and life in starting stupid wars.

You get no argument from me, that is why we in Virginia voted in Jim Webb as Senator in 2006. He opposed our invasion of Iraq and supports a smaller military footprint for Afghanistan.

Google "viet nam draft deferment" and find out why you are wrong.

The context was in regards to the many services that Saddam's central government provided in contrast to Afghanistan.

I am familiar with deferments. Cheney Chickenhawk received five! Deferments are merely rules and rules can be changed.

In Vietnam, many rich however did not receive deferments. There were certainly more during the draft than there are with the volunteer army.

Historically, the military has provided a ladder for members of the lower classes and ethnic groups to climb out of poverty and enter the mainstream of American society."

You showed no proof. Maybe you mean all the mass graves found in Iraq.
