Health care reform advocate surges to lead in race for U. S. Senate Seat

Poll: Beau Biden Grabs Lead in Delaware Senate Race The Washington Independent

Beau Biden Grabs Lead in Delaware Senate Race

This is one of the more surprising polls I’ve seen recently: Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, son of the vice president, is leading Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del.) in a hypothetical 2010 U.S. Senate matchup. The Susquehanna Polling & Research survey has Biden beating Castle by five points. When they polled this race in April, Castle led by 21 points. (This poll was conducted from November 10 to November 15.)

What’s responsible for the Biden surge? He’s grabbed the lead in vote-rich New Castle County, built up a 41-point lead among Democratic voters, and moved to only 5 points behind Castle among independents. According to the pollster, the shift “may be a result of negative publicity [Castle] received in the state after casting a ‘no’ vote for President Obama’s health care reform bill in the U.S. Congress.” Castle, who has thrived as a moderate Republican in an increasingly Democratic state, has been casting more partisan votes–against the stimulus package, for the Stupak amendment–that have been well-reported in Delaware.

The poll of the future ... ooooh*ghosty*ooooh.

There are a lot more *real* things to consider - not projected feelings concerning issues and races that aren't even occuring right now.

I have a tendency to first ask about the political leaning of the pollsters and it's also important to know the exact wording of even the seemingly simplest question because the use of one word over another can have a dramatic effect on the results.
Then there is the part about it being a year until the election and just about anything can happen.
If I were advising someone running against a Biden I'd find a way to in every speech talk about the how much an advantage Joe Biden's son has with his father being VP. Then try to work the three letter word into the speech every time you know the three letter word jobs J.O.B.S. I'd then have my candidate say it goes hand in hand with the other Biden three letter word work W.O.R.K. Then I'd have them say if you vote for my opponent you'll fit into the other three letter Biden word, dumb D.U.M.B. this is all hypothetical you know.

Connecticut is a heavily Democratic state that voted for Obama 61-38. The seat in question was held by Beau Biden's father for thirty-six years. When the first poll was conducted in April 2009, Beau Biden was in Iraq, had shown no interest in running for the Senate, and had been completely out of the headlines. When the most recent poll was conducted in November 2009, Beau was back in Connecticut, serving as the Attorney General, and had publicly announced that he's considering a run for the Senate.

Knowing all of that, you're looking at the swing from Castle to Biden and attributing it to Castle's vote on the health care bill?

All I know is that Biden was down by five. His opponent voted against health care reform. Biden went up by twenty one.

Yes, and correlation automatically means causation.

In April, Biden was down by five. In August, Castle ate a cheese danish. In November, Biden is up by 21.

    GODDAMN YOU CHEESE DANISH!

Reread my post and show me where I said anything inconsistent with that.
