Now that the venue is finally set, a sinister question looms over the case of confessed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed: Will he use the court as a platform to spew his sickening diatribes?

Experts say the terror thug will likely resist legal representation, opting instead to turn Manhattan Federal Court into his bully pulpit.

"The chances are excellent that he represents himself," said Ron Kuby, a defense lawyer known for taking on controversial clients.

"[Mohammed's] goal in the legal system is not to beat the rap. His goal is to use the legal system as a forum for his own ideas and to embrace martyrdom through that system."

As Mohammed and his underlings languished in Guantanamo Bay, a fleet of lawyers have worked to protect their rights.

Give him a platform? I don't know. Whenever Saddam was tried, no one thought his ramblings were particularly good. But then again, Saddam was even the enemy of Al Qaieda and other Islamic Jihadist networks.

Do we even know if this guy is eloquent enough after being tortured?

Here is what bothers me, and should bother all americans, quite frankly.

It has been said repeatedly, this man will not be allowed to walk out of any court room in this country, we will not allow that to happen. Now if this is truly the case, why this dog and pony show?

Oh we are going to show the world how our wonderful system works, this man will have his day in court. He will be fitted with the best lawyers we have to offer, he will be before a jury of his peers, and he will enjoy every aspect of our fine system of justice.

Yeah........right up to the point where he is aquitted, and then re-arrested and taken back to prison directly. This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever! We are going to end up looking like hypocrites should this man actually be found not guilty, why are we risking this embarressment?

This is nothing but a feel good moment for all the Liberals.

There's no way that he's not going to be found guilty. PBO isn't that stupid. That is why this will never be seen a legitimate trial by the people that the Libbos are trying to impress the most.

That is what I thought when O.J went to trial......:doh

This is a little bit of a different circumstance.

Regardless of whether the judge is going to play "Mr Fairness", the judge is going to walk into the court room (same for the jury) with the pre-existing knowledge that has been fed over and over again. There's going to be no sympathy. I think it will look more like the Saddam trial.

Remember, the lawyer still gets to pick the jury of his peers, and anything can happen. I know some good lawyers who could make a great case for these guys, and get much of the evidence tossed out from the word go.

I really don't think they will be found not guilty either, but there is that small chance, and I don't know why we would risk that outcome??

With the world press looking on and you "don't know" if you're giving this Islamic terrorist a platform?

Your party and Obama is taking that chance to create even more terrorists by giving this guy a show trial to spew whatever hatred and lies he wants.

Its a disgrace.

No, not if you are muslim. Then you are guilty until you are executed. That is the conservative way of thinking. I bet it also applies to anyone who disagrees with them.

Hahahahaha. That's pretty funny. Good one.

It should be noted that if sensitive information will be used as evidence in the trial, proceedings could be closed to the public. If so, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed won't be able to use the trial as a forum for disseminating his extreme views.

Under the American rules of trial, KSM will be privy to sensitive information though, information that can be passed back to other terrorists still on the run. And before you say that is absurd we have already seen how that happens...Need I remind anyone of this woman?:

Lynne Stewart, the terrorist lawyer, who billed herself as a “Civil Rights Lawyer and Political Prisoner,” was recently convicted of conspiracy and for passing along fatwas (Islamic religious edicts) from Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman to his terrorist followers in Egypt’s Islamic Group.

Question: If this guy is a whackjob, how does exposing him a such hurt the cause? It's like interviewing some screaming birther - it doesn't really help the cause.

What sensitive information from the government was she leaking? It sounds like she was only passing on fatwas from the guy on the inside, not actually sharing documents.

That party thing is leftover from 2005. I couldn't vote then. I am not a registered Democrat, but I haven't changed it yet.

Here is what bothers me. Not just you, but a number of posters, aren't capitalizing proper nouns such as Americans and Constitution. I know it's the internets but let's show the a little respect when all it involves is tapping that shift key once in a while.

Re: A diatribe defense: Pros say Khalid Shaikh Mohammed will act as his own lawyer in

No, not if you are muslim. Then you are guilty until you are executed. That is the conservative way of thinking. I bet it also applies to anyone who disagrees with them.

And now brought to you directly from the Saul Alinskey Rules fo Radicals play book accuse the opposition of your own position to throw them off balance and put them on the defensive.

In this case it's a near adult version of the childish phrase; "I know you are but what am I." In a way.

Thing is everyone knows it's the Liberals who love to jump to conclusions and make wildly outlandish claims they can't come close substantiating.

Remember they are the ones who claim to be in favor of human and individual rights but support the murder of the innocent unborn even ones that could be delivered alive. The Liberals think it's okay to have them 90% delivered them have their brains sucked out because some sotty excuse for a woman can't handle a living innocent in her life.

So yes let's hear more about justice for the presumed innocent terror master mind (even though he confessed and has bragged about it sense) from the experts on human and civil rights.

You did know that the Southern Democrats fought tooth and nail against the civil right movement. And did you also know it is from their ranks the KKK was born.

Hells fire to hear them tell it fully half of them over the age of 50 marched with Martin Luther King in Selma. Of course they would have been about 5or 6 years old. If that were true there would been no reason to march.

So let's have more lessons from the Party of Civil and Human Rights.

Take your pity and go back to Europe. Enjoy your Shariah law.

You're talking to a crowd that only uses the word 'proof' with other nouns. Like waterproof, tornado-proof, raccoon proof, etc.

uhm... so now we treat war enemy like a criminal?

opens the door to treat american citizen suspects of crimes the same way.....

He's doing what Bush should have done.

A REAL President would have had Bin Landen's head on the white house lawn on Sept 11, 2002.

God, you partisan hacks are so desperate to find fault in anything any democrat does. And you don't even BOTHER to explain your opinion.
