Tenn. trooper suspended over white pride e-mail

What do you suppose one thinks when they realize they've accidentally sent a foul email to 800 people?

"Oh sh*t?" or maybe "F****ck"

Will obama be suspended for attending a black liberation church for twenty years?

This country really is upside down.:doh

LOL - no, he disconnected himself.

I believe him when he says he never - ever - heard the Rev say such racist things. (sarcasm)

Side note, totally unrelated - I just not figured out that the :dohguy is going "doh!" instead of "pe-ew" :rofl

Is the Trooper racist? Yep, he sure it. That bothers me.

What bothers me more is how ****ing stupid he is. Suspend him for the racism (although I'd prefer more). Terminate him for apparently not having any common sense or good judgment. He's obviously on the edge because no intelligent, emotionally stable officer of the law would forward that to over 700 fellow state employees and not expect consequences.

He's got more issues going on than just racism. You don't want this guy packing a gun and interacting with minorities.

It's not hard to accidentally hit "Reply All" ;)

Is the president racist? Yep, he sure it. That bothers me.

What bothers me more is how ****ing stupid he is. Suspend him for the racism (although I'd prefer more). Impeach him for apparently not having any common sense or good judgment. He's obviously on the edge because no intelligent, emotionally stable president of the united states would sit in a black liberation church, knowing it is being recorded on tape, and not expect consequences.

He's got more issues going on than just racism. You don't want this guy with his finger on the button, or making laws that affect the majority.

Just having some fun here.:)

Except that he didn't do that. Reply all would have only sent to people it had already been sent in this case. I would like an explanation as to how he managed to take the steps required to bring up a contact wide command vs. putting only your work email in the "To" line and call that an "accident."

"Recall This Message."

Quick.

Well if he uses groups for his contacts, I know I've sent people e-mails on accident by clicking a group instead of one person...

How exactly did you do that and not know it?

Shouldn't we be waiting an apology from the dear Rev Wright as long as we are getting all holier than thou with this trooper?

It would be absurd to think this man clicked 700 names, then sent the email that way. He obviously hit 'all troopers', by mistake, like a guy that I fired, that hit...."all salesmen".

And what exactly does this have to do with the Trooper? You just in here throwing red herrings like hand grenades because you can?

His judgement was clouded by the stress from his job. He goes to work everyday, not knowing if it's going to be the day that someone sticks a shotgun in his chest and blows his lungs out onto the road, during a routine traffic stop. Looking death in the eye like that, everyday, will make anyone do stupid things. Wouldn't you agree?

How exactly did you do that and not know it?

Well the way I did it was on hotmail (and I think yahoo does this) you put contacts into groups, then when you go to send it to someone you either spell the group name or click it in your contact list and it puts a placeholder in your "To:" bar and when it sends it just fires it to everyone in the list.

I'm not defending his actions, just saying that it's possible he wasn't paying attention.

But it's Tennessee...srsly...they'll get over it.

Of course it would and nobody said he did that. But you've got to be oblivious to realize you are sending an email to your entire company vs. just yourself. A casual glance at the "To" line will show you this. Further, how to you actually select that group vs. your own email? That is a specific act. Do you realize how your contacts are actually laid out?

It's more than an "oops" what did I do based upon the information we have so far. It couldn't have been a "reply all" mistake, which is easy to make.

Not at all, since we are attributing the racist label liberally, then Wright should be near, or at the top of anyones list. The crap I have heard from him is some of the most racist ever. Or do you believe that only white people can be racists?

You folks have obviously never used an office email system, like windows, this happens all the time, and people get fired, all the time. Most cops are not that bright, good with guns, should probably stay off computers.

No I wouldn't. I did the job for nearly fifteen years and I never got so worked up that I felt compelled to send a blatantly racist email to everyone on my contacts list. This guy has deep rooted personal issues that don't come from the stresses of the job itself.

Then again I'm not racist and I had the make up to do the job and deal with the stresses associated with it. Maybe I'm an anomaly in that I didn't let the people I was dealing with dictate whether or not I would decide to hate on an entire race. Who know?

And the dramatic angle...please don't attempt to over exaggerate the realities of police work when dealing with someone who did it for a decade and a half. You don't "look death in the eye everyday." It's not quite like that, even in the most crime infested areas. Police work is 90% "routine" boredom, 8% heart pumping action, 2% "Oh **** I can't believe that just happened."

Bull****. I use Microsoft Outlook Exchange with Business Contact Manager. I know exactly how it works. Try again. And obviously I'm a bit more capable than you are with a computer. In fact given your assertion here I'd say you're pretty much lying through your teeth.

Irrelevant red herring. Again.

So, it was all about his politics? No way could it have anything to do with, "snapping", under the pressure?

Obviously not, as I have seen this happen in my office more times then I care to remember. I am glad you are secure in your computer knowledge, and I do not doubt you are better at it then I, I had someone do most of it, for me.;)

As for calling me a liar, spoken like a retired cop, we are going to get along brilliantly.:2wave:
