Meh, it will happen on some level of course. I won't get the vaccination though because the swine flu is just the flu.

Back in 1976 there was a massive hoax and scare perpetrated by the CDC and the Government all the way up to President Fords office and millions lined up for free flu shots to protect us from the swine flu pandemic. We now know that only one Soldier died and about 90% of the rest of his unit got sick but no one else died. Of those who got the shots in 1976 more than 500 people are thought to have developed Guillain-Barre syndrome after receiving the vaccine and 25 died.
If you have an "allergy to eggs" you may be in serious jeopardy if you get the current vaccine made from eggs.
I would talk to may Doctor if I were you. I have decided not to get this new vaccine even though I am in a high risk group because a bad reaction to the shot could kill me.

I contracted the Guilliane Barre syndrome from having a flu shot although it was not in that era of the 70's and that particular pandemic. What I do know now though is that the GB virus is already in your system and the flu shot helps it to get out to you. I've never been able to get the flu shot again since having GB and would never chance it again anyhow even though doctors told me my chances of recntracting it again is about 3%.

I've never had a doctor recommend that I get a flu shot. Ever.

If you want one, they'll give you one, but it's funny how they never recommend it unless prompted.

The shot they should be focusing on the pneumonia vacine since that is what people are dying from. The flu is viral and pnue is bacterial, but fewer times it's viral. So when they say so-and- so so died from the flu, it is misleading. Also 1/3 of nurses are refusing the shot b/c they'd rather not subject themselves with a short term solution and have possible long term complications.
