I think you are wrong. The vast majority of American people support healthcare reform AND having a public option.

Actually, according to Edmund Burke, that is not the duty of a Representative.

Burke tells us that a Representative owes his constituents, in addition to his industry, his judgment and that he betrays them if he surrenders that to their opinion.

They just did didn't they? Would you vote for a bill, 2000 pages long, involving a vast expansion of Government powers when you couldn't conceivably be intimately familiar with what it contains?

The people want free money, free liquor, free housing, a new car and a good pizza that wont make them fat. Is it Congress' duty to provide those too?

Somebody has to think like an adult here.

That's why we elect congress people to represent us.
I have faith that my congressman knew what was in the bill when he voted.

The second part of this is just silly and doesn't warrant a legitimate response.

The same goes for the "Party of yes minus thirty nine"

The Democrats actually voted in accord with what the people of this country want. Haven't you been following along....or do you get your news from Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh et al.

Since when did clarity and brevity stop any congressional bill from passing?
