House majority votes in favor Health Care Bill

Re: House approves landmark healthcare reform bill

To be fair to you, it was ****ed up by the 17th(???) amendment.

Agreed, and yes it was the 17th. To be fair I suppose I was a bit blunt with my first post. It's not the idea of a Senate that I have a problem with as much as the way it is run and the unfair balance of power.

Re: House approves landmark healthcare reform bill

Oh, I'm aware what the purpose was. It doesn't mean I agree with it. It was a consolation made long ago that just wasn't that well thought up....

It was a "consolation"? What do you mean?

Re: House approves landmark healthcare reform bill

Keep in mind that they can pass this in the Senate without 60 votes. They like to call it the Nuclear option.

There is a profound sadness that comes from the knowledge that so many citizens haven't been able to see the danger of this and it's implications on the future. I continue to stress the study of the past as way to see into the future if we fail to recognize warning signs and avoid the same mistakes. The problem is so many are so busy celebrating Obama's election without any thought being given his plans and what they are clearly leading to.
As to what I said earlier about honoring ones oath it's about preserve, protect, and defend from all enemies both foreign and domestic. A vote for this Health plan is to fail to honor that portion about, preserve, protect, and defend because as I see it, it's a step toward the Constitution's continued dismantling begun by Obama.
The closer he gets to his goals the further we will get from our rights. I believe this because I do study history and it's warnings are not a puzzle to be solved they are easy to see if you just open your eyes.

Re: House approves landmark healthcare reform bill

Saturday was a sad day for American ideals, American values and America in general. God help us all if this atrocity ever passes the Senate.

Re: House approves landmark healthcare reform bill

I personally think the senate unfairly represents different amounts of people and as such should be seriously reformed or just given the ole boot altogether...but that's just this guy.

I used to think that too when McCain and the other RINOs sabotaged our bills when we were in charge :)

Re: House approves landmark healthcare reform bill

When's the Senate vote? I think I'll write a letter to my Senators before then. They're both moderate Democrats and some research has shown that neither of them have made a commitment on the health care debate one way or the other.

Re: House approves landmark healthcare reform bill

Someone post me a link to a readable version of what was passed. Most of the information I am hearing makes me support this decision, but I'd like more information, first.

Re: House approves landmark healthcare reform bill

Honoring their oaths to refuse health care for those who can't get it? Some oath. Only Repubs believe in that....and a few traitorous dems.

Could have sworn that the Messiah promised that it would be budget neutral, does dear leader know how to speak the truth? Lemme give a shot out to a POS who thinks he's my POTUS.

Your time would be better spent reading an unabridged dictionary; the length is about the same. But if you insist:

http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:h3962ih.txt.pdf

FYI I retrieved that URL on my second attempt. On the first attempt my internet crashed.

EDIT: Yeah, so I'm starting to realize that by "readable" he didn't mean "the whole damn thing"... oops :3oops:

Even the readable version is going to take me some time to get through. Yet another reason that I don't trust any crap like this. Make it so the average citizen can understand it easily.

page 116 has the public option, and all that.

I'm actually less interested in reading about the public option than I am about the reforms/regulations enacted on the insurance industry. I'm curious as to whether the bill goes far enough.

I prefer to call it "majority vote", but yeah if it comes down to that, it will be used.

A HC bill will be passed, have no doubts.

Re: House approves landmark healthcare reform bill

Oh if minority leader Rep. Boehner is correct and you have just passed a bill that will force me to purchase insurance or suffer a $250,000 fine and/or imprisonment, I'll see you in hell first just out of spite.

Re: House approves landmark healthcare reform bill

lmfao

H.R. 3962:

• Section 7203 – misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

• Section 7201 – felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years."

Get ****ed!

So, if this is accurate, you would choose the fine/imprisonment over health care?

Re: House approves landmark healthcare reform bill

I'm not a huge Rick Sanchez fan, but I find this video to be humorous. Simple mistake, but really if it's a big part of your speech, try to get it right...

Re: House approves landmark healthcare reform bill

I would choose free will, over state coercion at the point of a gun.

And if your choice was fine/imprisonment or health care, what would you choose?

The former over the latter. Do you feel that the individual should be coerced by the state to purchase something that they don't want?

Good to know.

This issue cannot be defined in broad strokes such as that. But here's how I would be OK with an answer of "NO" to that question in regards to health care. If you do not purchase health care, and you have some sort of catastrophic illness, you may NOT, under any circumstances have any government assistance to help you pay for it. NONE. And if you have no ability to pay, no doctor/hospital is required to treat you. NONE. This will prevent costs from folks who refuse to get health care, and then beg for it when they get ill. Would you agree to this?

Let me ask you something CC, when this monstrosity passes, are you going to be ok with the Government telling you that you aren't living a "healthy lifestyle" and dictating to you changes you must undertake or pay a penalty?

Because that's where this is headed, and it's in that bill.
