WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's landmark health care overhaul moved toward a vote in the House Saturday after anti-abortion lawmakers won a chance to knock out language that would let federally subsidized health care plans cover abortions.

Democratic leaders were hopeful they could pass the bill, giving Obama his biggest victory since last November's historic election, no matter how the abortion issue is decided. Obama planned a rare Saturday visit to Capitol Hill in an effort to cement a majority to pass legislation that is certain to be seen as a test of his presidency.

The bill would cost more than $1 trillion over the next decade. It would provide health coverage to tens of millions of Americans who don't have it now, require most employers to offer it to their workers and prohibit insurance companies from denying coverage based on a person's medical history.

It's not too late to stop this if we all act now, by calling our Congress people and let them know we dodn't want this.

I hate to break it to everyone but with so much of the economy and formerly owned private business already controlled by the National Neo-Socialist Party, (Formerly known as the Democrat Party) once the they take over the Health Care System and Insurance Corporations and put in place Cap and Trade restrictions and controls and taxes along with all the peripheral costs to come, Obama will be in complete control of your lives and be nearly unstoppable in his dictates.

Those who are willing to give up Liberty for a little Health Care are doomed to pay through the nose for one and lose the other for ever.

Melodramatic? Maybe but a short study of the last National Socialist Party from history tells a story you don't want to see repeated ever, by Obama, Pelosi, Reaid or anyone else.

Let me get this straight.
Congress is going to pass a health care plan
Written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it,
Passed by a Congress that hasn't read it, but exempts themselves from it,
Well be signed by a President that also hasn't read it, and who smokes,
With funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes,
Overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and
Financed by a country that's nearly broke.
What could possibly go wrong?

I'm old enough for it but thank God it will take a long time on the waiting list before they euthanize me.

You want a bill like this rushed through and made law? Why? Throw political philosophy and party loyalty to the birds I say. This is just bad policy anyway you cut it. Why anyone would argue for this bill, putting aside the prior stated loyalties, is beyond me. I understand why Pelosi is doing it, but as one of the public sure to get screwed in this mess I sure can't see what you are so happy about.:doh

I think that health care will get passed eventually, but this thing being debated now? Not even knowing the merits of it, is just politics as usual in Washington DC. But it is OK, I was not one of those who found the promised change something to believe in.:cool:

The Democrats have just voted Yea on the proposition that the Government is the owner of your flesh.

If they can compel you to do this or to do that with your health care, to require treatments, diet, checkups or to deny any of them then your body is theirs, and you only have the use of it at their sufferance.

If this proceeds to become Law, then it will have been done through the action of the free people. You won't even be a slave, who is a victim, you will be a serf.
