"He who does not think himself worth saving from poverty and ignorance by his own efforts, will hardly be thought worth the efforts of anybody else." -- Frederick Douglass, Self-Made Men (1872)

Iran? Really? Come on buddy they were shooting peaceful protesters in the streets. I'd have went with Indonesia, Turkey, Albania, Niger, and Yemen, though with the possible exception of Albania religious minorities are still highly discriminated against in these countries though not generally by the state but by society.Iran etc.)
Look what happened when we put pressure on the Shah of Iran to liberalize. We forced him to release political prisoners, got him to take the educational institutions out of the hands of the clerics, and then abandoned all support for him leading to his eminent overthrow due to the liberal policies we ourselves put pressure on him to implement. And now what's left is a regime far worse than the Shah ever was.and we happen to be arming a great deal of the regimes that dont. (saudi arabia and the like). So the balls as much in our court as it is in theres.
The problem with the ME is not U.S. support or lack of U.S. support it is Islamist indoctrination from the cradle to the grave. It doesn't matter who their leaders are
No the quote from the OP was not hearsay, the Colonel said he heard him say it directly, that is eyewitness testimony.Reread the guy's claims. Much of it is hearsay and that that isn't seems a little strange.
He was under investigation.Again, I ask a relatively simple question:
If someone in the army was saying that muslims should rise up and kill americans, and that he wanted people to strap on bombs and go to times square, and that he was giddy about US soldiers being killed, don't you think someone would have mentioned this before this incident?

Let us not get caught up on the why. We can formulate the why as the investigation continues or within the confines of our brains. let us instead look at the what. WHAT did he do? He killed other Americans.
That makes me....ANGRY! >:C
LMAO at that freedom house site... it put Great britain as 'FREE'... LMAO... you can't even take pictures without being searched, other times the 'offender' is put in a terrorist database, or accused of being a potential child pornographer...
BBC NEWS | UK | Magazine | Innocent photographer or terrorist?
The US and Canada, 'free'... lol... in canada you can't have a beer and a cigarette at the same time. you gotta take your shoes off to get on a plane, the highest concentration of a prison population in the US then ANYWHERE else in the world, I mean seriously, the US is just a few steps away from a police state.
Now, I don't know about those other places, but north america and britain should fall in the 'partly free' category at best.
I know it'll be called 'conspiracy theory' but I figured that those in the army would be screened out for anti-war tendencies, among a few other things that had been reported that suggest the possibility that this man could have been a victim of MK-Ultra (mind control experiments, simply put. That have been partially declassified)
Then again, it's outwardly possible that this man really was a muslim extremist... but the safe money is on this guy taking some form of prozac or ritalin.
